HOW TO STYLE A METALLIC DRESS FOR TRANSITIONAL WEATHER?

How to style a gold metallic dress for transitional weather? Today I have an outfit proposal that answers that question. I styled my metallic wrap dress with brown boots, a white and brown bag and a tartan blazer. The blazer has some gold treads so I thought it would be a good match for the dress. Besides, I like the idea of pairing a metallic dress with tartan. It looks more interesting that way. I was never one to shy away from patterns. This outfit can be worn both as everyday and night wear. The golden touches make this outfit look more dressed up, and heelless boots make it appropriate for day wear. If you want to glam an outfit like this one, all you need is a pair of high heels.

Metallic dress looks more tricky than it really is. Styling a metallic dress, for example, isn't that hard. As always look for colours and tones that suit your skin tone. Pair your metallic item with other items you like to wear or go for a full metallic look.  If you don't feel comfortable enough wearing a full metallic outfit, start with accessories.  By the way, if today's outfit looks familiar, it is because it is basically the same outfit I showed you yesterday but  without the bath robe coat. It was warm enough for me to ditch the tartan coat, so I did. I ended up wearing only the tartan blazer and metallic dress and was more than warm enough. When speaking of transitional weather, layering is so important. Sometimes you'll wear a coat in the morning, but as soon as the sun comes out, you'll be too warm.

I thrifted this dress for something like two euros. I originally bought it planning to wear it to weddings, but with this metallic trend, I started wearing it as every day wear. You know what they say, every women needs a wrap dress in her closet. So, why not a gold wrap dress? The long tartan blazer is from Uzor, a fashion house that doesn't exists anymore and it is one of the statement pieces in my closet. If you have been following my blog, I'm sure you've seen me wear it a hundred of times. The brown boots are super comfortable, I wear them very often. I rely on boots a lot in transitional weather. I think it also has something to do with the fact that I know I'll  soon miss wearing them. I'm always a bit sorry once it gets too warm for boots. What do you think of the bag? It was a gift from a friend and I think it's lovely. It matches the boots quite well as well. This year, I've really been into brown tones. I plan to wear them this spring as well, especially with neutrals.

I tend not to spend too much money on dresses, especially trendy ones. I suppose I'm more likely to invest into a blazer or something of the sort.  If you're looking for some cute cheap dresses online, I saw some cute ones at online store Selaros. Online shopping has truly made our life easier. It is so easy to just type what we are searching for and browse a site. What kind of dresses do you like to wear? Do you own any wrap dresses? Do you find them flattering? How do you feel about this glitter and metallic trend? Is it something you feel comfortable wearing? You can also find some lovely fashion slippers on the above mentioned site (in case you're already planning warmer spring outfits). Not before long, we won't have to worry about blazers and coats all.

V- neck cut glitter top
Seeing these photographs, I'm starting to think I need to wear V-neck cut more often. There is something very flattering about this cut, both when it comes to dresses and tops. It elongates our figure and slims down our neck area. I'm a big fan of turtlenecks and button up look myself. So, wearing a V- neck wrap dress was a bit out of my comfort zone. Sometimes it is good to get out of our comfort zone a little, don't you agree? Still, I think I'll always be a button up kind of girl. Still, it is was fun to wear this V- neck  wrap dress. So, you never know.  I think the key with wearing a V-neck cut is figuring out how deep the V cut should be. We don't all have to go J.LO with our V-cuts. If you don't feel comfortable showing up too much skin, you should just wear a V-neck that's cut a bit higher. That makes sense, doesn't it?

One aspect of transitional styling that I like is the sheer unpredictable of it. You never know what the weather will be like, and for me that's kind of the whole fun of it. I actually wore this outfit for International Women's Day, that is 8th of March. Did you do anything special on this day? Where I'm from, many people do celebrate 8th of March. Buying presents and flowers for the ladies is pretty standard. There are always people selling flowers in the street and in some cities there are stands that hand out flowers to ladies (this is mostly done by civil servants or different associations). I remember that when we were both little (preschool really), my brother bought me some cute pins for 8th of March. International Women's Day is a fun holiday. We can trace the birth of this holiday to early 20th century. It was started in USA by a socialist union of America on suggestion of activist Theresa Malkiel. For years, it was popular mostly in socialist and communist countries (it was a national holiday in Soviet Russia), but with time it also gained popularity with the feminist movement. Anyhow, I felt like celebrating and this little giveaway was one of the things we did to celebrate 8th of March. We typically stop for coffee and cakes in Roma restaurant in Mostar in the morning, and  just so it happens that this restaurant always hands out roses to women on 8th of March. So, I always tell my husband not to buy me flowers because I'm bound to get them anyway. Just so you know where to stop for coffee and cakes if you found yourself in Mostar on 8th of Match. I did get a box of Belgian chocolate from my husband. All in all, it was a great day. Very sunny and warm.

If you are wondering about location, it's Bunica recreational zone. This place is perhaps most lovely during spring time. I've told you about rivers Buna and Bunica lots of times. Both rivers spring from the same source and this whole area around them is perfect for little trips and getaways. If you're staying in Mostar, this is a must see as well. Alternatively, you can also choose to stay here. There are motels and villas here, and there is also some private accommodation available. If you're a bird lover (especially a duck lover) bring some bread with you, because the ducks here seem to be always hungry. Moreover, ducks are not the only birds you can see there. If you're into bird-watching, this is a pretty good spot. I've saw some interesting birds here in the past, mostly woodpeckers.

That would be all for today. Let me know what are your thoughts about my look and this area. Have a lovely day everyone!

  1. Such a cute dress on you! It looks lovely layered but it would looks o great on it's own too, a wonderful find! I am always a little sad to pack my boots away when it warms up too - now it's autumn we are just waiting for the weather to realise that so it gets colder and we can enjoy boots and layers again! :)

Hope your week is going well!

  2. This metallic dress is beautiful. I love that you style it for everyday wear. Why not, right? The boots and bag make it look casual. The only metallic piece I have is a black top. I love that it can be dressed or worn with jeans and boots. The ducks adorable. It is always enjoyable to watch wildlife enjoying their environment.
