Nautical print dress (outfit post and surviving summer in Mostar) / Haljina s mornaskim uzorkom (odjevna kombinacija i preživljavanje ljeta u Mostaru)

Do you like nautical print? I do. Pairing this dress with tights felt kind of wrong, but it stopped me from worrying about whether it is too short or not. So, here it is. A simple liitle outfit with a little nautical print dress....because some of us can't resist prints. Moreover, for some of us LBD will remained something to be admired but rarely worn.

p.s. The temperatures are sky high in Mostar and I unless I don't have to I don't go out of the house before 7 p.m. Mostar is surrounded by mountains which are amazing sight for the eyes but they also trap the warm air (you can't have it all) making this city a hard place to live in during the summer months. I might write some tips on how to surive Summer in the city soon. Do you have any tips to share? How are you surviving summer in a city (taken that you happen to live in one)?

Volite li mornaski uzorak?

  1. Ivana, I like your nautical print dress... it looks great on you. I too wear a pair of tights when the dress is a bit shorter.

I live in a small city but located near a harbour and very close to the ocean. So although it can get hot at times we usually have a breeze. I hope it cools off a bit for you♡

    1. thank you dear Launna. When I'm in Split I make the most out of it being a coastal city....and in Mostar we have five years so I try to stay close to them and in the evening I stroll on the banks of Neretva river trying get the most out of its breeze.

  3. Oh, I love your dress with the gray tights!
I'm lucky enough to live by the sea, but even here the temperatures get pretty high. There's not a lot that you can do... Sometimes we even stay at home because it's colder inside that it is outside. But generally we just find a pool or a colder caffe and stay there :)

Mislim da ti nisu bile potrebne uz ovu haljinu, nije toliko kratka. Haljina mi je lijepa, ide super preko ljeta, i preko hladnog period s najlonkama (tad bih stavila gore neki jednobojni, tamni sako, npr.).
Kako se preživljava ljeto u Mostaru? Zagreb danas gori.

  16. Hello!! I LOVE it. Absolutely cannot resist a nautical print dress!!! It looks cool and lovely on you. I tend to wear leggings with shorter dresses-can't cope with tights in the sun!!!x

  17. I love your dress! And I don't think it's too short, I think it's a nice length especially for the summer :) I don't think that you need to worry about it :)

  18. Nautical prints are perfect for the warmer weather and the colors in this dress are so fun. I also wear tights with dresses that I consider on the short side. I think this dress actually looks quite chic paired with tights and even better that it gives you peace of mind when you wear it.

The heat sounds like it has become somewhat unbearable in Mostar. I don't blame you for not wanting to go out. Intense heat can feel so draining. It hasn't been that bad in NYC yet. We had a few really hot days and it was really the humidity that made it worse. Dry heat doesn't feel as bad to me. But when it's really hot, like you, I avoid going out if I can especially during the middle of the day. Stay cool my friend!

  23. I think the tights look lovely with the dress - its a stunning outfit :) I don't live in a city myself but I prefer city breaks to beach holidays, so I know how hot these places get in the summer (hence why I put most of my travel on hold until winter months!) x

  24. Daaaa, mornarske prugice su uvek trendy i rado ih nosim.
Uh, leto u gradu!

  26. I am not really into prints that much, I am a basic kind of girl when it comes to my outfits. But I love the summer and the warmth, I seem to function way better when it is warm. Drinking a lot is what helps, and eating watermelon fro the fridge.

My fashion illustration of the day + book review / Moja modna ilustracija dana + ogled knjige ( Le Diable au corps) 6.12.2016

This morning I read an amazing novel. Le Diable au corps (translated as The Devil In the Flesh) is a novel by Raymond Radiquet. Believe it or not, this was by first book by this French writer. I don't think I even heard of him before, which is odd, but well, it happens. In his time, Raymond was quite a celebrity and he is still considered as one of the important French writers of that period. Did I like this novel? Quite frankly, I loved it. I just couldn't put this novel down. I must have read it an hour or so. I got up a bit more earlier this morning so I actually had time to read it with my morning coffee (it is not a very long novel but still it is amazing how easy it was to find one's self glued to those pages). Perhaps I should make it a habit, getting up more early so I can read more.

Fashion illustrations of the day (markers)

Hello darlings! How are you? Can you believe that February ends today? This month has just flown by. I know it's the shortest month in the year but still. Today I'm going to share 3 fashion illustrations and sketches with you. The medium for all of them is marker on paper. I don't work with markers that often, but sometimes it is good to try something different. The fashion sketches I'm sharing are all about 3 colours: purple, green and red. Spring is in the air, so this is my reflection on all those trends for the new season. The first illustration shows a girl wearing a purple and blue jumpsuit. The second illustration features a girl wearing a transparent green dress with a top and a skirt under that dress. The third illustration shows two girls in red gowns.

February Recap (art & DIY projects & outfits)

I've put a lot of effort into blogging this February, I hope it shows. As far as the content goes, February was similar to January, mostly a mix of my illustrations and outfit posts (here). This month I was full of positing ideas and I managed to make many of them happen. I feel pretty good about that. The only thing I feel bad about is making my blog monolingual and not using my other languages, but translating texts from English to other languages takes such a long time. It is so much easier to just write in English.  Hopefully, I'll manage to change that and make my blog multilingual again. I need to organize my time better. Fingers crossed. For March I already have a few posts prepared. You can expect more art (mostly fashion illustrations) & outfit posts.

DIY PROJECTS
I shared two DIY projects in February, one about making a Barbie dress, the other was about how to paint a plant container. I don't have any DIY projects prepared for March, but I'm sure that I…
