Summer for me often translates as one thing: colour...abudance of colour. What about you? What do you think about colourful outfits in the summer? For me it is as I've said all about colour. Sure I love the all white look and even all black look ( in the evening naturally for the Mediterranean sun doesn't allow it any other way) but for me summer has always been a time to relax a little and mix and mismatch a lot. One more thing I must stress out when it comes to summer: the jewelry. I love to wear jewelry in the summer even if it is a little impractical sometimes (because of the heat and the sweating) but there are ways to do it and just like with clothes we can find what works best for us.

The woman I have depicted is wearing a big red statement necklace and some kind of red vest or kimono (made from silk preferably). The other colours are yellow and blue (which I think look gorgeous together) and I intentionally didn't draw out the entire outfit...so maybe she is wearing a midi and maybe a maxi (both would be a good choice I would say).

This all thinking about summer thing made me remember one particular summer. It was when me and my friend (and neighbour) both started high school. That summer we sew all kinds of things together (very clumsily) and had a blast. I just remember how much fun we had ripping our jeans and sewing buttons onto our tees. We thought we were so innovative and imagined everyone was paying attention but in fact we were like most adolescent. Still, those were fun times.

  11. How wonderful that you remember these times! I think such things are necessary if one is young and I think a lot of people indeed looked at you :) For me summer is also connected with colours although I made already the experience that in the end of summer I more often wear not the as bright colours as I normally wear ... don't know why. But at the moment I would love to wear a look like you have painted, as it seems to be so fresh and as this look brings good mood!

  15. Isti slučaj! Obožavam i boje i nakit leti.

  16. I don't know what to say, I know it's summer, but I have no desire to wear something bright. I'm feeling myself comfortable only in black, white and beige colors now.
By the way, that sketch is very pretty, you are true to yourself!

    1. It is important that we wear what we feel best in...so if you don't feel like wearing something vibrant and bright, no need to do it just because summer is here...and besides one cannot really go wrong with black and white or beige....these colours are timeless and always very elegant.

I'm glad you like the sketch...I rather like this one myself...I feel like I have drawn an actual person (though it is not someone I know).

as always thank you for your comments:)

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism.

You have seen (more or less) what was February like for me. Now tell me... what was February like for you? Are you happy that it's already March or do you feel like time is flying too fast? Are you looking forward to the spring?

As far as blogging goes, it seems that I have became more focused on fashion illustrations. In the next month the illustrations will have their place, but there will be more focus on DIY....or at least I think so, because I'm kind of heading in that direction. Apart from that, I have no plans. I have so many ideas when it comes to what I want to blog about, that I often have hard time deciding what not to include. As always, feel free to write about what you would like to see.

Wearing the First Dress I Ever Made: A Grey Midi Dress

Here it is: the first dress I have ever made entirely by myself. I did make some summer dresses in the past, but I had sown them without a pattern and a sewing machine and at any rate I wouldn't call them very accomplished. I mean, they weren't nearly as polished as this dress and they were not nearly as complex to make. I'm very happy with how this dress turned out. I'm even happier I took this sewing course in the first place because now I can make more dresses like this one! If you remember my November highlights post, you might remember that I've mentioned how I've recently finished a beginning fashion tailoring and sewing course with designer Stanka Zovko.

I promised to show you the dress I made for my course 'graduation'. At the end of this lovely sewing course, you get to choose not only what you're going to make, but also the material and the pattern.  The sewing pattern is typically chosen from one of the sewing magazines this designer has …

How To Style Animal Print? + An Autumnal Fairy Tale at Ethno Village Near Medugorje

With winter at our doorstep, I think it's important to make the most out of the left over autumn days. With that in mind, my husband and I payed another visit to our favourite (still not officially opened!) ethno village in vicinity of Medugorje. I wrote about this eco/ethno village a number of times, so if you want to know more (or just see more photographs) feel free to check out my old posts herehereherehere and here.  Autumn is Herzegovina is always gorgeous, and this year hasn't been an exception. We had some sudden weather changes and drastic changes of temperature, but I would still describe this autumn as a beautiful one. The Sunday this photographs were taken on was rather gorgeous, so I'm certainly glad we went on this little trip. I know I'm repeating myself, but I do cherish moments like this. Every time I step into this little village, I feel as if the time has stopped or rather like I have just travelled in time. It's such a charming place! I h…
