Illustrating a Catwalk Look From Stella McCartney Spring/Summer 2018 Collection (Fashion illustration of the Day: Watercolour)

Today I'm back with a new fashion illustration. Once again, the medium is watercolour and pencil on paper. Once again, I'm not sure will I make any alternations, but I wanted to share this one as it is. I can always change it up a little bit if I want to. Plus, this is a pretty good way to show you what caught my eyes the most when we're talking about collections. I mean if I illustrated something, then you know it caught my eye, right? This time I illustrated a runaway look from Stella McCartney Spring/Summer 2018 collection. How do you like it?

I absolutely love this look. I think this was my first time illustrating one of Stella McCartney's designs but I do love her work. In my view, she is an absolutely original designer and I do respect that. Stella McCartney's not only creative, she is also a very environmentally friendly designer. She always makes sure that her collections are sustainable and I do admire that. Sustainability in fashion is important! I heard it said many times that fast fashion is one of the largest treats to environments. So, falling in love with clothes and shopping less can be a good way to fight pollution. When we truly love an item, then we want to keep it and it is more important to us that  we keep it in a good shape. Does that makes sense to you? I'm not advocating designer clothing items as such, I'm just speaking in general and saying that being  more conscious about our purchases is always good. I might speak about this subject a bit more in the future.

Yesterday was the first day of Spring....and you know what? It snowed! Can you imagine? Snow for the first day of Spring. I know that in some places it is quite common, but in the Mediterranean region. It was a lovely surprise, though. I know it is easy for me to say. I know there are a lot of you that are really tired of the snow and I don't blame you, but to me snow looked so beautiful yesterday. I felt as if I was in a fairy-tale. We hardly ever get snow so when it snows here, I always feel like I've just travelled to some other country.

You know despite writing down the name of the collection in pencil (you can see it in the bottom of the illustration), when I wanted to take another look at this catwalk look, I made the mistake of looking for this collection in Stella's Autumn/Winter collection simply because the boots made me think of Winter. Only when had browsed through her Autumn/Winter collection (and that one is gorgeous as well), I finally remembered that this look belongs to Stella's Spring collection.

However, we do wear boots in Spring, so why they shouldn't be a part of a Spring collection? This particular look is seriously stunning. I would totally wear it right now. Would you? Runaway looks are sometimes more theatrical and fashion forward and not that I mind that, I actually love it, but it is also lovely to see something you can wear for every day. I'm a big fan of midi skirts, any time anywhere. For me, this look is pure perfection. It's feminine but it looks very comfy at the same time.

These dried flowers ( I love drying flowers if you hadn't noticed) made me think of this design so I had to take a photograph with them. The other photographs I'm sharing were all taken on the same day, most of them are unedited but some of them I edited. I've been trying to experiment a bit with adding effects to my illustration and drawings. Although, I think I'm really a more old fashion kind of illustrator, it is always nice to try something new. That would be all for today? Let me know how are you? How is the weather? Has the Spring arrived yet? Here it is still cold, I guess that we have to wait a bit longer.

  4. The whole collection is stunning, and I can really see why you chose this piece to illustrate. It's the sort of outfit that whilst I couldn't see myself wearing it out on a daily basis, it would be perfect for evenings and events.

  7. ottimo lavoro Ivana!
    Baci!

  11. Another lovely illustration, I can understand why you have chosen it. This purple outfit is my favorite. Everything in this illustration is beautiful because purple is one of my favorite shade. I loved how you added those purple flowers around it. I'm surprised to know that there was snow fall on the first day of spring. The weather has become quite cold in my city too after raining but I hope the effect will go away after a few days:)Have a great day honey! Kisses <3

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.
