HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020 WITH A SUIT OUTFIT PLUS A FULL 2019 RECAP

Happy 2020 lovely readers! It is not accidental that I'm starting the new year with a business chic outfit because this year I mean business. My NY decision is to focus more on my work and professional life in order to make the most out of the opportunities I've been getting lately. As for my blog, I must admit that I don't have any specific plans or goals. I attempted to make my blog multi lingual again last year, but I wasn't able to keep it up and I'm not sure will I be able to do it the future. The problem is that I write long posts as it is so finding time to translate them isn't easy. I worked as a translator so that's not an issue, the issue is just the time it takes to do it right and I don't want to do it poorly. All I'm going to say is that I hope to write and prepare some good posts for you (any myself too) in 2020. I have already used a good part of my Christmas leave to work on new posts so I have a dozen posts in drafts. I will certainly try to make 2020 a productive blogging year, but I can't promise that I'll be as inspired or productive as I was last year. 2019 was quite a good year for my blog, not so much in terms of views or what most people would interpret as blog success, but it in terms of productivity and work invested. Scroll down to read and see more.

I won't talk much about my outfit (all the items I'm wearing are quite old some even possibly vintage- but I'm not entirely sure).  Instead of my outfit, I'll reflect more on year 2019. I wrote and published 198 post in 2019. Not bad, right? Many of those posts were quite long and included research so I'm proud of that. I put many hours of work in my blog in 2019 and I hope it showed. Although, I'm starting to wonder whether I'm not spending too much time on my blog.  When I look at almost 200 posts and I know every one of them took at least one or two (and most much more) hours to finish, I suddenly feel quite guilty about the amount of time I spend working on my blog (and that's just a part of time I spend blogging because I obviously also read other blogs).  I suppose blogging has its dilemmas too.

JANUARY
January was a busy month for my blog. Looking back at it, I'm perplexed to how I managed to find so much time to write so many posts. I created new art and I even hosted an art giveaway. I focused a lot on fashion illustration in my posts and created many collages featuring my art. I wrote a few travel posts, mostly focusing on Mostar (Herzegovina region) and the surrounding area. Besides art, fashion illustration and travel, January was also marked by outfit posts with special attention drawn to scarves. There was also one RIP post that I have never thought I will write, as one doesn't expect a young life to end suddenly.

October was extremely busy. I was working full time unpaid (as a volunteer) while trying to free lance at the same time when I got a new job opportunity that I took without thinking despite it meaning relocating to Croatia (that I didn't mind because that's where I'm actually from). Consequently, there were less posts in October but I'm really happy with the ones I did post.

  2. I've really enjoyed your posts, and getting to know you in 2019, Ivana! As someone who's been blogging nearly 12 years, you have to just let go of the notion that blogging is a time-waste. It is what it is! If you enjoy it, do it!

Wishing you all the best for 2020. Awesome outfit! You have legs for miles!

  5. What a fun menswear inspired outfit! You look great in the suit! :) I have no idea how much time I spend blogging! My posts are not very long to write, but I tend to block out some time one day to write about a week or so of posts, then another night I'm cropping the photos and uploading them, and I try to read other blogs and respond to comments with all that. i never just sit and upload pics and write posts all at once, haha! I work in batches and schedule in advance :)

Happy new year! Hope that your 2020 is off to a great start!

  12. You've certainly been very productive, blog-wise, in 2019. I published only 81, which is about all I can manage, and they aren't nearly as long as yours, with less need for research. I try to publish one every 4 days or so, and take several holiday breaks. I have no plans at all for my blog but to continue in the same vein. I usually have no time to plan much ahead. But like you, I want my posts to be as perfect as possible, and that is definitely taking time. Not time I regret spending, as blogging is my hobby, and the writing part of it is my way to relax after a long day at work. My goal for the next year(s) is quite the opposite from yours, as I aim to focus LESS on my working and professional life, and to reduce my working hours in a year or two at the utmost. But then again, you are much younger than me, and I was the same at your age. Now it's time for me to start winding down! Hope you've made a good start to the year, Ivana! xxx

    1. 81 is also quite a lot when one publishes original content as you do. I don't have any plans for my blog either, it will all depend on circumstances. You're right about there being time for everything. If non-working was an option, I would probably take it, but seeing that it is what it is, I better focus on it now while I still have the energy to do it.

  14. Happy New Year, Ivana!!! Woah 198 posts in 2019?? That's a lot and you should definitely feel proud about that! Blogging does take a lot of time - I agree. Not only writing the post itself, but also the other stuff connected to it (like making sure it's promoted online, returning comments, etc.) So cheers to that, you survived! :)

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.
