Published in 1929, The Time of Indifference is a beautifully complex psychological novel that explores human emotions and relationships. The novel focuses on one dysfunctional family specifically and is spread over a very short span of time (a few days). Rather than on events, this novel focuses on inner lives of its bourgeoise protagonists. It could perhaps be best described as a work of psychological realism with elements of existentialism.
