FASHION SKETCHING ON AN OLD CALENDAR
The sketch you can see above was actually made on an old calendar. It is amazing what you can come up with if you're creative enough. Over the years I painted on so many surfaces, I could write a book on it. I think important thing with find finding time for art is to keep trying. I think I wrote about it a couple of times on my blog but basically you need to set aside time for it. Sometimes five minutes is enough to keep your creative juices going. Obviously, you won't improve much if you set aside five minutes for art daily but it might keep you motivated to keeping looking until you will manage to find more time. Whether you're a hobby artist or a pro, you have to keep working. A simple sketch or a doodle can motivate you and direct you into the right direction. Sometimes limitations can be freeing. If you have only one or two minutes to draw something, look at it as a chance to improve your technique.

SKETCHING WITH BALLPOINT PEN
When I don't have time to do art more seriously, then I like to take a few minutes and see if I can sketch something on just any piece of paper. I usually always have a ballpoint pen with me and sometimes I will just take whatever I find (like a receipt or any left over piece of paper) and start sketching.
COLOURING MY BALLPOINT FASHION SKETCH WITH 3D PAINT PROGRAM
I had a bit of an eureka moment today when I figured out a way to colour my sketches using a computer program Paint 3D. Probably everyone knows about it, but hey I'm late to the show. Funny how that never occurred to me before. I think I might have found a new hobby for myself. I might spend some time tomorrow colouring my old sketches and fashion illustrations. I tapped a bit into using digital effect to complement my art, but now I realizing that there are many possibilities out there. I don't need to invest into some fancy program, I can start small and see where it takes me. I like how in Paint 3D, you can layer colours. I need to look into it more. For now, I have created a few new fashion illustrations that are a mix between digital and ballpoint pen art. I think I like them. The advantage of digital art is that you can always press undo if you mess something art. That's not the case with ballpoint pen art for sure. There one wrong line can ruin everything. On the other hand, ball point pens are great to learn how to trust yourself and observe your drawing technique. Literally everything has its benefits. That is why I like to experiment with my art. I always learn something new that way. It's all about learning and improving ourselves, isn't it?

THE STORY OF MY OUTFIT- HOW I WORE IT BEFORE
This is actually the first time I went bare legged this year. I wore this dress for Easter day. I know I showed a different outfit here, but when it came to driving to see my grandmother, I choose something more comfortable. This grey dress is about the most comfortable dress I own and I wear it often. I paired it with a green vest to cover over my stomach that is sometimes swollen because of Chron disease. Now, that I think of it, I really like the combo of this green vest with this dress. I tied a belt that belongs to a tartan blazer I wear all the time, opted for sneakers and voila.

  1. Love how you layered the vest over your outfit! :) I just can't get used to vests, I've tried but they are not for me. I prefer a bit of arm coverage, my kimonos get more wear, haha!

It's nice you are still finding time for your art and to be creative and try new things :)

Hope that you are having a good weekend :)

  2. Your drawings are great! I need to get back to my own drawing/doodling - you're right, even just a few minutes here or there can get those creative juices flowing. How fun to have found a new application for colouring in your sketches!

I like your layered outfit. Sorry to hear of your Crohn's Disease - I have a friend who has it, and it's very difficult for her. L also has digestive issues, so we are always tweaking our diet to see if we can make it easier on him.

I hope you got a nice bump in traffic on your post yesterday! :)

  3. I wish I could draw, all I can do is draw is flowers. But I am not so good at other things. I love wearing a waistcoat I feel like it pulls an outfit together.

  6. Those ballpoint fashion illustrations are fabulous and certainly very original. You are so talented, my friend. I really envy this talent, as I don't possess any drawing abilities at all. Of course, I'm using my creativity in other ways, but drawing was never a forte at all. Very strange, as both my Dad and sister are talented in that way. Your layered outfit is just perfect and the scenery magnificent as always. xxx

    1. Thank you dear. Drawing is a skill that can be developed like any other, so maybe you should try it first to see if you can develop it.
