VRBOSKA, A TRANSITIONAL STYLING (EARLY AUTUMN OUTFIT)

Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers! How's life treating you? Today I'll show you a transitional styling suitable for early Autumn. Every outfit can tell a story really. I'm wearing an old graphic tee with a horse print (more tips about styling a graphic tee here and here). Quite an old tee this one, I bought it as a young teen (so many years ago) with money earned picking figs in summer. The yellow tartan skirt is vintage, inherited from my mother. I always get questions about it. I'm sure I'd never get tired of wearing it. A fabulous piece for sure. I wore tights and startas sneakers with the yellow skirt for warmth and comfort. I also wore a cap and a second hand denim shirt. We did some hiking on this particular occasion or rather attempted to it. We had to end our hike early as it has started to rain. We like hiking near beach Soline. As you may remember, Vrboska is located in a long and narrow bay. Both sides offer great hiking opportunities. Vrboska itself is a great destination to stroll around as well.

VRBOSKA- A PICTERSQUE FISHING VILLAGE WITH GREAT BEACHES IN VICINITY

I have to say a few words about beautiful Vrboska on island Hvar.  I always enjoy visiting this lovely village that is sometimes also called Little Venice. On its official tourist site, Vrboska is described as a smallest town on island Hvar. I'm not sure that Vrboska is a town legally speaking, but it fits the description of a little town. Village or town, it's a lovely place.  I love how peaceful it is. I love the architecture, the gorgeous stone houses and the beautiful wood boats.  I won't go into details because I've already blogged about Vrboska a number of times, so not to repeat myself here are links to my previous posts about this charming village hereherehere,  here and here (feel free to check those old posts of mine) to find out more about this beautiful place.

HIKING OPTIONS IN VICINITY OF VRBOSKA ON ISLAND HVAR
Beach Kamenjara and Bota surfing spot are ideal locationS if you want to enjoy a view of island Brač. You can also see the lovely islet Zečevo in the background. Maybe some day I'll swim to this tiny islet, but more likely option is renting a boat. I do want to visit this islet in vicinity of Vrboska. :)  Supposedly it is called Zečevo (zec means rabit in Croatian) because there are a lot of rabbits there. I haven't been to Zvečevo islet but I was surprised to see a rabbit very close to this spot when we were hiking the other day. I didn't know there were rabbits here, so close to the sea. I don't know, I always assumed that if there are any, they'd be in the forest further away. It seems rabbits like the sea view as well. Who knew?

WELCOME AUTUMN! WELCOME OCTOBER!
Cheers to Autumn and a warm welcome to October! A new month always feel like a fresh start, doesn't it? There is something lovely about a new beginning.  A new month, a new year, a new relationship, a new job, a new school or university year and so on. In many ways, we're always hungry for a fresh start- and why shouldn't we be? Isn't this possibility of making a fresh start the most precious thing about being a human being? Naturally, not only humans have this ability. If you have ever had a pet, you certainly witnesses that animals are capable of making a fresh start, getting over old fears and trying some new. Sometimes they're afraid of something for years and then they surprise you and out of the blue they get over it! Sometimes you can literally see them blossoming and developing a whole new personality as a result of getting over old fears.  What am I trying to say? That fresh starts can be great!  For both animals and humans. There is nothing wrong in loving fresh starts, getting excited about a seasonal changes and making the most of of things. Sometimes fresh starts can be the push we needed.

So, tell me, are you looking for in October? What are you most excited about? Do share! I'm really  looking forward to October. Perhaps I'm not so much excited for this month, as for Autumn in general. I can't wait to witness another seasonal change. I plan to take many long walks in the nature, to make the most out of it.  In English, October originates from Latin word for eight  because that used to be the eight month in the Roman calendar. In Croatian language, we have very poetic and imaginative names for months. So, for example, we call October 'leaf fall' because it is the month when the leaves start to fall. That's one of the things that always bring a smile to my face. Streets covered with colourful leaves are such a pretty sight! Every season has its magic and now it is Autumn's turn to take the stage so let's just relax and enjoy the show. Why not?

  1. So a great Autumn outfit! Love the painting! Adoring your hat as well. It's windy here. So I have been crocheting lots of beanies and I have been working on a bucket hat. Although, some are better than others. I can't say what I do right or what I do wrong, but I never know how the hat might go. Some I leave alone some I do over and over. Writing is much easier. Thanks for being so inspiring!

  5. Great look with bold patterns and bright colors. Perfect for the season. I envy your ability to inherit a cute skirt from your mother. (I dreamed of that but, alas, it wasn't possible in my life.) Autumn is a nice season that gives us a real sense of transition. And, for me personally, it's a lead-up to my birthday! (Early November date)

  8. I can't believe you still own a tee you wore as a teenager. All my teenage stuff is long gone - but then I'm quite a bit older than you - and if it were still around, I doubt it would still fit me :-) I do love a tartan pattern and your inherited skirt is no exception. Autumn is my favourite season, and I love October in particular, but so far this year it has let us down a bit with lots of rain! Thank you for taking me along to the pretty little town (or village) of Vrboska again. Your photos are like a ray of sunshine and a breath of fresh air on this rainy evening! xxx

  9. I do like the look of Vrboska!
That skirt looks great on you. I can't say I'm particularly excited about Autumn, I hate spiders, damp weather and dark nights -- I'm all about heat, sunshine and long heady days I'm afraid.
I am excited about being able to leave the house this coming Sunday after being in quarantine though! x

  10. This is such a great early fall outfit because you can add and subtract layers as it gets warmer or cooler, which is so typical on fall days!

  15. Such a nice way to layer a graphic tee! I've never seen a rabbit near the sea either - although I've seen a few kangaroos on the beach, I wasn't expecting them to be so close to the water either!

Hope that you have a great weekend ahead of you! :)

  16. Vrboska looks beautiful! And you in your lovely skirt and sneakers look fab and are ready for a nice early Fall walk! In Russian (you know, of course), we use Latin names of the months, but in Old Russian and Old Slavic the names were so beautiful, just as you said - Листопад! Slavic languages definitely are very poetic, and I regret that we lost some of those names and words. Perhaps they will return?
    Much love, dear friend!

Your Mum's skirt is totally cool and looks so hip with the tee and baker boy hat! I love it!

  25. Always love to see you wearing your own art and so nice that you earned one of the garments by picking figs, are there a lot around your area? Here's is kinda common in the Mediterranean and it is probably my favorite smell.

And so happy for you to see that you're able to take a lot of walks around nature, that is the best way to disconnect from what is happening around. No better therapy.

And then the skirt, looks comfortable and stylish! Such a very good gift and compliment to spice up any outfit!
