Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers! In this post, I'll share a few Summer to Autumn outfits I wore in Mostar. As I keep mentioning in all of my recent posts, I did some second hand shopping this Summer. I needed to make sure to follow my school's white and black dress code. This summer shopping I keep mentioning proved not only affordable, but also very successful. I managed not only to wear everything I bought, but also to transition all of my newly acquired items to Autumn. Now, you will see how I transitioned some of my newly acquired items for Autumn.
The whole
shopping second hand thing in the Summer took me less than half an hour. I spent less than 20 euros in total. Not bad! It seems that the less I shop, the better I get at shopping. Sometimes too much of the good thing can be bad for you. If you shop too often, you might stop to enjoy it. It might become a need, and that never good. Shopping is best enjoyed in measure, for it was never intended to be an addiction.
Sustainable and/or eco-friendly fashion is more than a movement or a trend. It's a way of living. It's a way of appreciating what we have. It's about being grateful and mindful. It's about caring for our planet and our wallets. It's about building a wardrobe we can rely on, and not giving into consumerism. It's about treating ourselves and others with respect.
Fashion is never just about fashion. There's always more to it. How we treat things, how we treat others, how we dress, how we think...all these things are interconnected. There isn't one single correct way to do anything in life. Sometimes at different stages, different things will work for us...and certainly different things will work for different people. We need to respect this, and not try to impose our own way. This applies to fashion just as it does to anything else. There's more to fashion and clothes than we might realize. Still, this whole clothes and dressing thing-it's worth some thought. It's not trivial...or rather it is as trivial as we make it to be.
BEING HAPPY WITH YOUR WARDDROBE E IS SUCH A NICE FEELING!
Honestly, I find like I have finally build a fully functionable wardrobe. I wear most of the clothing items I own pretty regularly. Most of the time, I don't feel like I need to go shopping for clothes. Shopping my closet becomes more fun with each year. Plus, I have my sustainable fashion files. My blog allows me to track my wears. I'm surprised with how often I wore something or how long I've had some clothing item. I guess I take good care of my clothes.
The older I get, the less I feel like I need new stuff. The older I get, the easier it is to feel better and confident in what I wear. The older I get, the more fun I have with my fashion. Fasten your seatbelts and let's go on a mini fashion journey. As you might expect, most of these Autumn outfits will be my work outfits, therefore- black and white.
TRANSITIONING A WHITE DRESS WITH A TINY POLKA DOT PRINT
One of the things I purchased this Summer in Split was a polka dot white dress. If you remember I did a little shopping at a local second hand shop. I intended to wear this white dress as a tunics once the Autumn starts, and surely that's what happened. I've been wearing this dress to work since the start of October! I never really planned to wear it as a dress because it appeared too short on the hanger.
To be honest, I never try out things in a second hand store. Somehow, I still always manage to purchase the ideal size for me. Perhaps I've just gotten good at judging sizes. Actually, I don't like trying things on in general, but that's another topic. I have a mild allergy that I attribute to certain fabric dyes, and a very mild germ phobia, so as a rule I only try things on- after I washed them. Anyway, when I actually tried this dress on after washing it and all, I realized it's actually not too short to wear in Summer as a dress. I mean I wore shorts under it and they didn't show, and they weren't short shorts but you know medium short shorts (shorter than bermudas but longer than those very short ones).
In the picture above, you can see me wearing this dress with white shorts underneath. I wore shorts under it just to be on the same side, but it's totally wearable on its own. I just always feel better and more comfortable when I wear shorts under a dress.
Below you can see how I styled it with white heels and white DIY painted clutch bag (that I dug from my closet) and pair of white sandals. Pretty cute styling, isn't?

THE WHITE SANDALS- old- PLUS 30 WAYS!
I purchased these white leather sandals with wood heels back in 2016 and I plan to wear them until they fall apart. I was attracted to this pair immediately. What impressed me in particular was the unique heel design. I always enjoy wearing these sandals because they are not only chic but also surprisingly comfortable. Back in 2020, I posted 20 ways to style this pair of white heeled sandals. Since then, I've worn them many times and I don't plan to stop and time soon.

NOW, SEE HOW I TRANSITIONED THIS DRESS FOR AUTUMN!
If you scroll a bit more, you'll get to see my Autumn version of this outfit. Another way I styled this was with flared black leggings and a black blazer. The umbrella wasn't just an accessory, either! It was raining the day these outfit photos were taken.
TWO WAYS TO STYLE A WHITE DOTTED SHIRT DRESS - SUMMER TO AUTUMN TRANSITION

THE BLACK BLAZER- handmade and handsewn by Izeta
If you can afford it, get yourself a tailored (black) suit. It's the best wardrobe investment you can make. Years ago, I had a suit made for me by a local seamstress. It's one of the favourite items in my closet. It's also one of the most worn items in my wardrobe, especially this blazer.
....I'll stop here because I'm sure that the list of outfit links featuring this black blazer would be endless.

HOW I TRANSITIONED A GOLD SKIRT FROM SUMMER TO AUTUMN
Now, one more item that has made it from my Summer to my Autumn closet! You already had the opportunity
to see this gold skirt in my last post. If you remember my sis in law handed it down to me this Summer, and as you can see I have already worn it four times! Yes, I'm shopping my closet as a pro.

I wore this outfit for a charity baazar organized by my school for the flood victims. It was a lot of work, but it was a success!
Thank you for visiting and have a lovely day!
That definitely sounds like a successful shopping trip and you picked up some really stylish and practical pieces. I'm totally with you and I also feel that the older I get, the less I feel like I need new stuff. This applies to clothing as well as non-functional home items. Honestly I feel like I have regained time and peace of mind from this practice.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was pretty successful.
DeleteFeeling like you don't need new stuff is definitely a good feeling.
You have a black and white dress code for work? Phew, I would struggle with that! I love the ways you styled the polka dot dress and the amazing gold skirt! You really make them work for you!
ReplyDeleteI really like what you wore for the charity event too- that blazer works so nicely. I wish I were better at not getting 'new' things. Whilst I am better than I was, I often end up buying something- even though it is second hand, still, I have too much. You are an inspiration.x
Thank you Kezzie. Somehow I manage with the bw code!
DeleteMe gusta la ropa negra es muy elegante. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeletegracias!
DeleteVery nice combinations. Actually, I'm not a fashion expert, but at least I know what's beautiful:) And everything you wear is cute and everything looks great on you! Maybe because you always radiate beauty and simplicity, and that is always appreciated the most 😃
ReplyDeleteYou're always so kind!
DeleteSo great how you can bring this summer dress to new heights for the fall. Thank you for being so inspiring! Awesome black and white pieces.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun mixing summer pieces into fall outfits.
DeleteSo great to see your post! Awesome finds and you have a way of putting it together so nicely. Thank you for being so inspiring. Hope your November is going well. Thanks so much for being here!
ReplyDeleteThanks dear.
DeleteLike Kezzie, I would struggle with a black an white dress code, or any dress code for that matter. Still, I think you did really well finding these items second hand and transitioning them to Autumn! xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann. I lucked out on these items for sure!
DeleteFunnily enough, when I was an employee I had my own unofficial black dress code, it made it a lot easier deciding what to wear every morning and made me appreciate wearing colour when I was away from the workplace.
ReplyDeleteOf all your lovely outfit combinations, the charity event choice is my favourite, that skirt is such an elegant shape and length on you and the blazer with the plain tee and fancy pussy bow scarf is really classy and chic. xxx
This actually makes sense to me. Wearing black to work can make our life easier. Still, I must admit that I miss my colourful outfits. At least I can always accessorize with bright colours.
DeleteYou know styling is a lot harder than most people realize. When I was a teenager I started wearing black even before I got into the goth thing and this is because we did not have a lot of money and I realized that first black matches with black and every other color and after a while if you wear black all the time no one notices what you wearing.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with they styling and I am all about wearing a dress as a shirt.

Thank you Allie. There are many advantages of wearing black. It can be very chic and it's certainly easy to style. In some ways, it's easier to dress when you have a black and white dress code. However, I'll always be a lover of colour. There's nothing like bold colours to lift one's mood!
DeleteI like your versatile styling. I love how you’ve highlighted the joy of mindful shopping and sustainable fashion! It’s refreshing to see a perspective that values quality over quantity, and your insight on treating fashion as more than just a trend really resonates. We're almost at the end of the week! How's it going so far? I just posted a new blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm dead tired! I have worked 12 hours today.
DeleteI love seeing how you've styled each item in three completely different ways, Ivana! There is so much joy in shopping my closet (although I'm still shopping - now I sell my old things!), as I rediscovered when I had a mix and match session in my closet this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love shoes with unusual heels - I wish I could still wear high heels!
I love unusual heels, too. But I walk a lot, so I often opt for practical ones.
