HOW TO STYLE A PALE BLUE SUMMER DRESS FOR AUTUMN? (SUSTAINABLE FASHION FILES)

Today I'm sharing an Autumn outfit I wore for a visit to Metković town in Croatia. Metković is a lovely town. My reason for visit wasn't entirely touristic in nature, I had errands to run but I still wanted to dress up. It was a lovely sunny day that made me think of how wonderful Autumn can be. It was a bit fresh in the morning, so I was a wee cold, but once it got close to midday, I was warm enough. I felt really elegant in this styling. It reminded me of how much I sometimes enjoy wearing white and icy shades. Moreover, I thought about how easy it is get dressed when you have the right dress. Dresses can be such practical items. You just throw them on and you're ready to go. I think some ladies sometimes overthink dresses. They are not that hard to style. While on the topic, I like to wear my Summer dresses in Autumn as well, even really light ones. When Autumn comes we often reach for a darker palette. While there is nothing wrong with opting for a gorgeous Autumn palette and warm earthly colours, we shouldn't just toss our lighter or more summer items away.

Who says we cannot dress in light colours once the weather gets colder? If you like a light colour palette and/or icy/pastel shades, there is no reason why you shouldn't wear such tonalities in Autumn and Winter. Forget about some silly rules and wear your light summer items in Autumn. If your summer dresses are really light in the sense of the material they are made of (and not just in colour), you can solve that problem with layer. The obvious solution to wearing summer dresses in other seasons is layering. While it is still warm, you can keep your layers light and as it gets colder, you can pile on more layers.  As you can see, there are not a lot of layers in my outfit but that is because it is still relatively warm. First layer is the icy blue dress and the transparent tights. Tights are a must for me once weather gets cold. My second layer is the vintage white blazer. Blazers are a great idea if you want to keep your outfits elegant and polished but still add another layer for warmth. I finished this look with  pair of leopard heels and a burgundy bag. Thus my outfit formula is pretty simple: a light dress and blazer plus a leopard pair of heels and a burgundy bag. The best thing about putting this outfit together is that I didn't have to buy anything- I had all of these items in my closet. You know I like to shop in my closet and that I try to be sustainable in my fashion choices.

READ MORE ABOUT MY OTHER VISITS TO METKOVIĆ TOWN- I'm posing in front of a museum in the photograph above. I hope that I will be able to visit it some day. This little Croatian town actually has an interesting history but more about that some other time.

THE STORY OF MY OUTFIT

WHAT I WORE THESE ITEMS BEFORE?

HOW I STYLED THIS PALE GRECIAN DRESS BEFORE? Browsing through my archives, I got more ideas to style this dress. Well, that's one of the advantages of having a fashion blog. It's like having a digital closet. It certainly makes it easier for one to have a keep a visual track of one's closet. One thing I noticed is that I often wear this dress with my pair of leopard block heels.  Like my fabulous pointy leopard heels, This pale blue midi pleated dress from Croatian brand Amadeus HAS BEEN GETTING a lot of wear. I bought it this summer and I have already worn it five times. I'm already thinking how to transition it into Autumn. I definitely plan to wear it with this pair of heels again. Turning this summer styling into an Autumn one is not difficult. With a nice blazer and a pair of tights, you can put together an outfit that would be perfect for early Autumn. I'm also planning to wear this dress with a blazer.

SOME MEMORABLE QUOTES BY HENRY JAMES BECAUSE WHY NOT.....

“We work in the dark - we do what we can - we give what we have. Our doubt is our passion, and our passion is our task. The rest is the madness of art.”

.....

“Life is, in fact, a battle. Evil is insolent and strong; beauty enchanting, but rare; goodness very apt to be weak; folly very apt to be defiant; wickedness to carry the day; imbeciles to be in great places, people of sense in small, and mankind generally unhappy. But the world as it stands is no narrow illusion, no phantasm, no evil dream of the night; we wake up to it, forever and ever; and we can neither forget it nor deny it nor dispense with it.”

........

“It has made me better loving you... it has made me wiser, and easier, and brighter. I used to want a great many things before, and to be angry that I did not have them. Theoretically, I was satisfied. I flattered myself that I had limited my wants. But I was subject to irritation; I used to have morbid sterile hateful fits of hunger, of desire. Now I really am satisfied, because I can’t think of anything better. It’s just as when one has been trying to spell out a book in the twilight, and suddenly the lamp comes in. I had been putting out my eyes over the book of life, and finding nothing to reward me for my pains; but now that I can read it properly I see that it’s a delightful story.”

Henry James, The Portrait of a Lady

I remember how when I walked up in the store, this dress immediately caught my eye. It was on sale, but I would have bought it even if it wasn't because it is so perfect. This gorgeous dress was available in just two colours and I tried both of them on. I wanted to buy both of them on the spot, but unfortunately there was a little hole in the green version of this dress so I bought only the blue one. There was another identical blue dress left in the shop and now I'm sorry I didn't get that one as well because it would make for a great gift for someone. I wore the dress for a dinner date with hubby the same day I bought it (photo above). Since then, I have styled it so many time. I basically worn it for all seasons: summer, spring, autumn and winter.

THE WHITE BLAZER- I love this blazer. It was given to me by my sister in law and it's actually a part of s skirt suit, but I usually wear that suit as separates. This blazer is simply perfect for transitional weather. I love to wear it with skirt and dresses, but I also love how it adds elegance to denim outfits.

MORE WAYS TO STYLE THIS PAIR OF LEOPARD HEELS:

Browsing through my archives back in 2021, I realized I have worn this pair of leopard 17 times (perhaps even more because I don't always photograph my outfits) but since then I've worn the leopard heels enough to make them sustainable. I'm pretty sure I have managed to get to target 30 wears AS I MANAGED TO FIND 28 PUBLISHED OUTFITS on this little place to call my own.  It's always good to strive for 30 wears because of fashion sustainability.

THAT WOULD BE ALL FOR TODAY! I hope you managed to find some sustainable fashion inspiration.

Among fashion blogs I follow, sustainable fashion is a regular topic (or a way of life for some). Mica does 30 wears regularly, Sheila does fashion flashbacks,  Vix , Ann and Kezzie are super sustainable with their charity and vintage shopping.

Thank you for stopping by. Let me know how are you doing!
