VISIT MALINSKA ON ISLAND KRK WITH ME (...AND SEE WHERE I LIVED FOR TWO MONTHS!)

Hello dear readers! Today I'm taking you to Malinska on island Krk. This charming little place was my home for two months. I must be destined to live in beautiful places, don't I?  One of these days I have to put together a post with all the places I lived in. Life seems to move me from one phenomenally beautiful location to another. I never seem to end up in bleak or depressive places. Maybe it is also a matter of perspective: that of an artist seeing beauty all around. Maybe it is  a mix of two: luck and artistic nature that finds beauty where beauty can be found.

Anyhow, I'm typing away from Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. So, you could say I'm back home. Well, home is a relative term for me as I move around quite a lot but Mostar is definitely one of my homes. I returned from Croatia a few days ago and while I managed to fully unpack on Saturday, I still feel a bit tired. I spent a lot of time on the road, so I think I'll need a week or so to come to my senses.

Most of the time, I live between Split (Croatia) and Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina), so moving countries isn't anything unusual for me. The only difference this time was that I was in a different region of Croatia (Istria) for a few months (as opposed to my native region of Dalmatia). Istria isn't that different from Dalmatia. I moved to Istria in May. I first lived in Umag (blog posts here and here). Eventually, I was moved to Krk (blog post here).

MORE INFORMTION ABOUT MALINSKA

The following paragraphs (with more information about Malinska) are quoted or paraphrased  from https://www.placesofjuma.com/malinska-krk-island-croatia/ 6.9.2022.

General information about Malinska  town

Numbering about 3,100 inhabitants, Malinska town is located on the western part of Krk Island and, together with Baska and Krk Town, is one of the most visited seaside resorts on the vacation island. The history of tourism goes back more than 100 years, and already in 1905 the Viennese geologist Dr. L. Waagen called Malinska a “pearl in the island world of the Kvarner Bay”. Formerly a small, tranquil fishing village, Malinska has turned into a true vacation paradise, delighting sun-seeking tourists from all over the world. One of the most beautiful attractions is the enchanting center directly at the harbor, where countless boats rock in the sea, and the excellent restaurants as well as traditional konobas spoil guests with local specialties.

The above mentioned site also notes other sites  worth seeing such as the 13th century monastery in Porat, the parish church of St. Apollinaris and the church of St. Nicholas by the harbor.  It stresses that one of the most beautiful attractions of Malinska is the picturesque 8-kilometer-long promenade. I can attest to that and confirm the beauty of the promenade myself!

WHAT WAS LIVING IN MALINSKA LIKE? Well, truth be told, I haven't explored this little place that much as I was working long hours but I enjoyed living there. I was there without a car, so that made everyday life a little more difficult (shops are far and few) but I managed somehow.

I imagine the term home is really elastic for you but at least you have the chance to enjoy the best of every part, not only the good things but also the differences that makes us value the important things in life :)

And talking about your art, it always amaze me! I adore the way you drew the waves in one of the latest piece. It looks peaceful and inspiring *_*
