FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY: SPRING VIBES /MODNA ILUSTRACIJA PETKOM : PROLJEĆE JE U ZRAKU

Hello dear readers! In this post, I'll share a new fashion illustration with you that is all about Spring vibes. In addition, I'll share a spring outfit I wore today. As you can see, the Spring has finally arrived. As Pablo Neruda famously said:  “You can cut all the flowers but you cannot keep Spring from coming.”

We have enjoyed a warm and sunny day today. Perfect introduction to the weekend. I felt like dressing up so I did just that. As much as I'm down with the whole mini trend, I won't be giving up on my bellow the knee, midi and maxi skirts and dresses. In fact, I might just feel best in midi length. Give me a pencil midi skirt and I'll come up with an outfit that is guaranteed to make me happy. Pairing midi skirts with heels always makes me feel feminine and dressed up.

Perhaps some day we'll come up with an exact mathematics formula for a 'pick me up' outfit. What do you think? Is there such a formula? Maybe it is more an individual one, something we need to develop ourselves.  Different items make different people happy. How do you go about creating an outfit that makes you feel better and more confident? Ideally, an outfit should have an item that fits well, an item that is in our favourite colour and an item that makes us happy.

Something old, something blue, something gifted and something you made yourself. Perhaps that could be my formula for a happy outfit. Nothing is new about this look. Both the grey blazer and the blue midi skirts were gifts from my sister-in-law (literally second hand). The other items I acquired myself, one way or another. If I recall well the white tunics is from a super old collaboration and the rest is store bought, expect the brooch that is my own creation. I enjoyed strolling Mostar in this (not entirely practical but fun) outfit today. Scroll down to see and read more.

Pozdrav dragi čitatelji! U ovom postu s vama ću podijeliti novu modnu ilustraciju koja je cijela u proljetnim vibracijama. Uz to, podijelit ću i proljetnu kombinaciju koju sam danas nosila. Kao što vidite, proljeće je konačno stiglo. Kao što je Pablo Neruda slavno rekao: "Možete odrezati svo cvijeće, ali ne možete spriječiti da proljeće dođe."

Danas smo uživali u toplom i sunčanom danu. Daj mi pencil midi suknju i smislit ću kombinaciji koji će me zasigurno usrećiti.

The medium for this illustration is watercolour pencils on paper.  The design is inspired by Spring. Just a little blue and green dress that came to my mind. I doubt I'll have the time to make it, but it was fun to design it on paper. I imagined the blue part of the dress as being of satin or silk fabric and the green part as being made from sheer materials. There are some other fun details such as applications in the shape of leaves and a satin cord that ties in a big bow on the left shoulder. To finish the look, there's a tiara. It was a fun look to sketch but let's get back to what I have actually worn today.

THE STORY OF MY OUTFIT- HOW I WORE IT BEFORE?

HOW I ILLUSTRATED IT BEFORE? I have actually illustrated one item from this outfit in the past. Can you guess which one? If you guessed the grey blazer, you were correct in your guess. I have illustrated this item in another outfit, i.e. the one where I paired it with a black ruffled dress.

Sometimes life imitates art. Have a look at the fashion illustrations below. I have drawn them years ago, but now that I look at them, I see they resemble my outfit. It's a happy. My fashion illustrations inspire my outfits and my outfits inspire my fashion illustrations.

WHAT HAVE WRITERS SAID ABOUT SPRING? A FEW LOVELY QUOTES

“It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.”
 Rainer Maria Rilke

“Nostalgia in reverse, the longing for yet another strange land, grew especially strong in spring.”
Vladimir Nabokov, Mary

“If people did not love one another, I really don't see what use there would be in having any spring.”
Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

“It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want—oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!”  Mark Twain

“We can't possibly have a summer love. So many people have tried that the name's become proverbial. Summer is only the unfulfilled promise of spring, a charlatan in place of the warm balmy nights I dream of in April. It's a sad season of life without growth...It has no day.”
 F. Scott Fitzgerald, This Side of Paradise

“Is the spring coming?" he said. "What is it like?"...
"It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine...”
Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

April hath put a spirit of youth in everything. ”
William Shakespeare, Shakespeare's Sonnets

“Spring drew on...and a greenness grew over those brown beds, which, freshening daily, suggested the thought that Hope traversed them at night, and left each morning brighter traces of her steps.”  Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

  8. I love a Spring quote, and I particularly love Mark Twain's - which I've used myself at some point - and the one from The Secret Garden, which is such a delightful book I have re-read it many times during my 60 years on this earth! Your Spring outfit is gorgeous: it's always lovely to see that tunic and straw bag pop up on your blog. And oh those leopard heels! Fabulous fashion illustrations as always! Have a great evening and Sunday Ivana! xxx

  13. This is a lovely outfit for spring and you illustrated ti well! I love the blazer with that pretty blue skirt - I always have a soft spot for blue! I find my "feel-good" outfit formulas can change now and then but they always feature a bit of colour even as the styles I reach for changes slightly over time.

Hope that you are having a good weekend :)
