FASHION AND LOCATION ILLUSTRATION (KRAVICA, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA)

Happy February! The month of love is here. If there is something I love more than making fashion illustrations it is making location art. Combining fashion and location illustration together gives me an opportunity to further my art skills. Moreover, local (sustainable) travel was always a part of my blogging journey. It makes sense that I would jump at a chance to illustrate local destinations. Therefore, today I have a new watercolour illustration to share with you. The medium is watercolour pencils (Staedtler brand, not sponsored) on mixed media paper (art talents, again not sponsored). The location depicted is the amazing Kravica waterfall, a place I visited many times in the past (see here and here). Scroll down to see the work in progress photographs as well as the reference photograph I used.

The making of this illustration was pretty straightforward. I first sketches the outfit with the watercolour pencils and then I started to add the background details. It was fun sketching the water details. I also enjoyed the sketching of the trees. The outfit was fun to sketch as well.  Here I'm wearing my vintage teddy bear coat, a Bellissima dress (local brand, not sponsored) and a pair of leather boots. An ideal outfit to jump around in. Not that wearing high heels has ever stopped me from engaging in daredevil activities. Anyhow, this watercolour painting was also quite time consuming. I must have spent more than an hour making this one. I do enjoy working with watercolour pencils. Often when I work with watercolour pencils, I end up with art that looks a bit like mixed media and I love mixed media so I guess that works for me.

MORE WAYS TO STYLE THIS ORANGE DRESS - You know I'm all about sustainable fashion, so I'll include more ways to style this particular dress I illustrated. Do you like any of them? I think my favourite outfit with this dress has got to be when I paired it with a vintage white blazer.

WORN HERE FOR A VISIT TO STARI GRAD CITY LAST YEAR

LET'S VISIT BUNICA RECREATIONAL ZONE NEAR MOSTAR TOGETHER!  The last time I wore this Bellissima orange dress was in January. I actually choose it for a visit to Bunica recreational area.  I didn't include this look in my January recap because I wanted to share it today. As you can see bellow I have paired this orange dress with camel boots, statement tights, Nordic print cap and a statement mini bag.  Scroll down for more images of beautiful Buna river. It's amazing how many great destinations there are in immediate vicinity of Mostar city. That always impresses me!

  3. Hello Ivana,

I am happy to see you back in action and seeing new content on your blog. I hope you're feeling way much better now and that your health can improve in the upcoming months!

I liked that I still had new content from you on my Instagram, but I love to see your process here on the blog and with more points of views, processes, etc.

I didn't know that the proper name of this technique / skill was "location art" but seems appropiate and maybe I should try it combine it multiple tools, photos, drawing elements, etc. Actually back in the day I used to mix illustrations with photos a lot and you're inspiring me to do that again :)

I liked that you're taking inspiration from your own pictures and that feed back your fashion editorial work, your illustration work and your styling work. It is like a great combo that will help you grow as a creator!

Best! Will check the other post of the week!

  9. I'm loving your new watercolour illustration combining fashion illustration with landscape drawing. You captured the trees and the waterfall magnificently. I think this is really your thing!
The Bellissima dress is gorgeous in its simplicity. What a lovely colour and I'm loving the stripes at the hemline. My favourite outfits you created with it are the one you used for the illustration, combined with that teddy bear coat and the one with the scarf, which is very chic! xxx

  11. Baš lijep i sladak članak slike veoma lijepe, ilustracije vrhunske.
