SUMMER ISN'T OVER YET IN SPLIT CITY (CROATIA)

Summer isn't over yet. Not in Split city. The temperatures are still high and the sun is shining. Let me take you around and show you what this beautiful Croatian coastal city has to offer. If you're planning on visiting Croatia, right now is the perfect time to get that summer feel. I love exploring Split city on foot ( I already explained why it is a good idea to explore Split on foot in this post).  You know, I was always aware that Split is a  truly unique place, even when it wasn't as popular as it is today. I used to walk everywhere when I lived here! I'm a big believer in getting to know a city on foot. You can never know a town until you explore its every corner on foot. I have more posts about Split scheduled and many more stories to tell. Some places we carry in our hearths, and our proximity to them is of little importance. I'm fortunate to have been able to make the most of my time spent in Split. My visits to Split have been short but sweet. I don't have much time on my hands these days, so I always try to make the most of free time when I have it. 




THE STORY OF AN OUTFIT- A FLORAL DRESS THAT I WORE MANY MANY TIMES

I have been trying to maximize the clothes I have in an effort to make my fashion choices more sustainable. For my stroll around Split city, I wore a floral dress I have had for ages (I wore it previously here, here, here, here , here , here , here , here ) a blue bag that I wore just as much (here, here and here) and a pair of sandals I must have worn a hundred times (most recently here). In addition, I wore a beautiful vintage mesh vest. I had to take it off because it was too hot, but I definitely plan to wear it again and let you have a closer look. Once it cools down a bit, I will be happy to wear this vest. That would be the story of this outfit. One of the things I love about having a fashion blog is that it is really helpful when it comes to maximizing our wardrobe. 





AN ANCIENT ROMAN PALACE PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIVE IN 
What makes the historical centre of Split special is the fact that the 'old part of the city' is placed within preserved walls of a ancient palace. The walls are still standing and they are quite pretty to glance at and all. A city build by a Roman emperor Diocletian, the only Roman emperor to ever willingly abdicate so that he could come and live the rest of his days here. What a way to retire, right? Split started its life as a summer palace to a Roman Emperor Diocletian and since then it has been growing in size and importance. While we credit the Romans with urbanizing Split, its history predates the Romans. Split  was actually inhabited even before the ancient Romans set foot here and might be Greek in origin. Before  the Greeks, there were other inhabitants and tribes.  Everything is ancient in these part, isn't it?

Split really has some really great historical sites and in that sense it is very Mediterranean. Indeed, what is fantastic about the Mediterranean area is that you  can often not only see the past with your own eyes, you can touch and smell it as well. If that's not potentially educational, I don't know what is. Another thing that I love about visiting this Roman palace that is also an old centre of Split city is the fact that you never know what you might see. We saw two weddings while we strolled the old city. The guests at one of those weddings got a little too carried away with pyrotechnics, I would say. The city cathedral looked a bit like a football stadium at one point, but it is hard to blame the weddings guests for celebrating.

One of the things I would definitely recommend is visiting the main city theatre. They have some amazing performances year around. I love this theatre and I especially enjoy their classical musical and opera performances. Opera, play or ballet, whatever is your preference, you will find something worth seeing. Another things I love to do when I'm in Split is to check out new cafes, restaurants and street art. Split is my hometown, but I as I don't live there anymore, it always seems to me that I'm missing on something. I always find something new to admire with my every visit. I suppose that's one advantage of not living in a certain place, you get to see it with fresh eyes.

    Ljeto uopće nije prošlo, i ja se kuham. Zapravo čekam da dođe Miholjsko ljeto, a dotada sam u ljetnim kombinacijama, haljine i komarci :D

    Your dress is so beautiful! it's nice it's still summer-like weather for you so you could give it another wear without the layers! :)

    It's summer-like here even though it's spring, they say it may cool down later in the week, but it's very strange it being so warm so early!

    What an amazing city your hometown is. I'm particularly enamoured by the fac that the old part of the city is within the preserved walls of a Roman palace.     Oooh I definitely want to visit Croatia, it is on my bucket list but unfortunately money isn't enough sometimes haha, but hopefully I have the chance to go very soon :D

    It definitely feels like the scenario of an epic movie, and it seems that the options are endless in Split! And I agree with you, I love to visit European cities by foot, actually is the best way to discover them right ? :)

In this post, I'll review " Forgiveness Day" , a science fiction novella that is a part of the Hainish Circle. Published in 1995, "Forgiveness Day " won multiple awards. This novella is often published together with her other novellas from the Hainish Circle, and it can be find in various editions of Four Ways to Forgiveness and Five Ways to Forgiveness.   Thematically, this novella is a part of five stories featuring two Hainish planets, but it can definitely be read on its own.
