FASHION ILLUSTRATION SUNDAY: CASABLANCA FALL 2022 READY-TO-WEAR COLLECTION

 Hello readers! Thank you for your comments on my last fashion illustration post. Since you liked my rendering of look 3 from Casablanca Ready-to-Wear Fall 2022 collection, you might be happy to learn that I decided to illustrate another look from this collection. Moreover, I illustrated it in the same elongated style (and on the same page in my sketchbook).  This time I opted for the fifth look (7/71) consisting from a matching (white/red/blue) bomber jacket and a mini skirt. The colour palette for this design look echoes the national (and flag) colours of many a European country. France's flag is blue, white and red. As this is a French brand, this colour palette might be more than a coincidence. I'm a lover of colour in general but this combination of colours is especially appealing. I particularly enjoy the bright tonalities of red and blue, for example Ferrari red and sky blue. Plus, it's nice to see so much white in a Fall collection. If you remember my last illustrated look (third look from the collection), it was also a vibrant mix of white, red and blue shades.  Another thing these two illustrated outfits have in common is that I'm getting retro vibes from both of them. I took my time with this illustration. How much time? I didn't time myself but I spent a bit more time than usual sketching this look. Maybe an hour in total. I remember I worked on shadows and details. I enjoyed illustrating the shadow belonging to the blue bag.  It was definitely a fun outfit to illustrate. My husband really liked how this fashion illustration turned out. He told me I should frame it. Who knows, maybe I will.  I do enjoy doing this kind of artistic fashion illustration. Ever since I started doing fashion illustration as a kid (so a few decades ago!) I was always attracted to a more artistic rendering of clothes. Another thing I always wanted to do is to have my own style when it came to fashion illustration.

MAKING OF A WATERCOLOUR PENCIL FASHION ILLUSTRATION
Bellow you can see the process of making this Casablanca look five  (from Autumn/ Fall 2022 TRW collection) fashion illustration, from sketching to painting. You might also notice that I drew this one next to another Casablanca fashion illustration (look 3) that I showed you in my last post. 




REFERENCE USED FROM VOGUE- CASABLANCA FALL 2022 COLLECTION

It seems this brand is focused on sport aesthetic, on their page is is written that 'Casablanca is a modern reimagining of the timeless apres-sport aesthetic". I cannot say that I dress 'sporty' on everyday basis (when do I ever dress sporty?) yet something about this collection caught my eye (otherwise I wouldn't decide to illustrate it). I think it's mostly the combination of immaculate tailoring and an attractive colour palette. Isn't it amazing how tailoring can make even sporty items look couture? 
As, I explained, I'm not very familiar with Casablanca brand. This is what I managed to find about this brand online: "Casablanca comes to life in a palette that simultaneously evokes the clay courts of Stade Roland Garros and the sunbaked terracotta of North Africa; accented with fresh tennis whites and pops of pastel. Sportswear inspired silhouettes are refined but relaxed, and presented in crisp cotton and plush terrycloth. Casablanca’s aesthetic is a fusion between lux and leisurewear, a perfect equilibrium of comfort and elegance.       Thank you Vix. It made me think of the same thing. When I was a flight attendant we wore a bright red uniform that was a bit similar to this (but with a blazer instead of a bomber jacket).

In this post, I'll review " Forgiveness Day" , a science fiction novella that is a part of the Hainish Circle. Published in 1995, "Forgiveness Day " won multiple awards. This novella is often published together with her other novellas from the Hainish Circle, and it can be find in various editions of Four Ways to Forgiveness and Five Ways to Forgiveness.   Thematically, this novella is a part of five stories featuring two Hainish planets, but it can definitely be read on its own.
