Portraits (oil paints vs watercolour)/ Portreti (uljane boje nasuprot vodenim bojama)

POST UPDATE 2024: I added a few more of my more recent portraits to the mix. It gives you a chance to see the evolution of my style.

FRIDAY FASHION ILLUSTRATION: TWO PORTRAITS

Today I'll share two portrait sketches in my 'fashion illustration' style. The medium for both of them is watercolour pencils on paper. As you might know, I often turn to this medium when I want something done quickly. It's not a medium I've mastered, but I do enjoy it.

When it happens that I don't have the time for art, I make sketches. Sometimes  a quick sketch can lead you places. Sometimes it is a dead end. You never know until you try, don't you? Anyhow, quick sketches might be all that I'll be doing in foreseeable future.

In my last post (on Friday), I wrote about protecting one's art against AI.  Not that I'm an expert on the topic, but it is an issue that deserves attention. I might write more about it in the future.

  15. Dear Ivana, your portraits are so expressive and I love it that each of the woman you pictured seems to be really strong. I found it further interesting, that you used many green in the portraites as I learned green is the colour of the heart and the love. I like them!

Hope you enjoy the 3rd week of Advent so far. I saw btw your zucchini pasta and they look so yummy that I must try them out as soon as possible!

  37. These portraits are so lovely and evocative Ivana! I really like the colors you used and the wonderful textures you created in each one.

Thank so much for your very kind and encouraging comment you left on the post regarding my health. It is true that I was kind of hard on myself but after I was able to get past that, it made life easier. Even though I'm much better now, I remain conscious of not relapsing so I still try to be very careful in general of anything that could aggravate my conditions. I really like what you said about chronic illness not needing to be a sentence and will keep that in mind. I'm sorry to hear about your battle with Chron disease but it sounds like you're not taking as a sentence. It's true no one can really know you truly feel and what you experience with your illness because they aren't in your body. I think people mean well when they tell you that it's not a big deal but it can be the last thing you want to hear when you're the one who actually has to live with it. That's how I feel anyway. But I hope you hang in there and keep taking care of yourself.

It sounds like you've had plenty to be busy with that you haven't had time to decorate for Christmas. Interviewing especially around the holidays can be tougher but I'm glad to hear that it's not stressing you out and I wish the very best luck in finding a new position soon. That would be one wonderful Christmas present wouldn't it :)

    1. we're often too hard on ourselves...I think this is especially case with women, we can be such perfections and sometimes all we need to do is just take it a day at the time.

  38. I don't see it, but people often assume they're self portraits so maybe that is true...perhaps there is a bit of us in every painting we paint.
