TEN WAYS TO STYLE A BLUE PLEATED SKIRT

Hello dear readers and welcome to another post that is all about sustainable fashion. Today I'll show you ten ways to style a blue pleated skirt. If you have a pleated skirt in your closet, you might find some of these outfit ideas useful. Besides, I love showing you multiple ways to style one item. I genuinely enjoy shopping my closet and I think it's the perfect way to be environmentally conscious.
You might remember that this blue skirt was gifted to me by my sister-in-law sometime around NYE. She had it for a long time and it didn't fit her anymore, so she gave it to me. This skirt feels vintage to me (based on the material, the cut and the general vibe) but so far I wasn't able to verify it. The label says Bella and 'Made in Denmark'. So, I'm not sure if this blue skirt is vintage, but it is definitely old. Scroll down to see multiple outfit ideas featuring this cute pleated garment.

What was the occasion? I wore this cute casual styling to go hiking in a near by village Goranci. We also stopped for a lunch there. I think it is obvious I was dressing for comfort here, but still the outfit  turned out pretty good and that just proves you can be both stylish and practical.

2. WITH A NAVY DRESS WORN AS A TOP (TUCKED IN), A STRIPED CAP AND NUDE HEELS
What was the occasion? Well, first I had some chores to get rid of and it took longer than I thought so we decided not to cook lunch but opt for an unplanned lunch in Schuman restaurant (not sponsored), one of the bests (if not the best) restaurants in Mostar. It turned out just as well in the end. Moreover, this outfit proved to be both comfortable and chic. Long story short, I was really happy with it.

I'm also going to include two outfits I wore in winter time when I received this skirt. The only reason why I haven't worn it since then is because I forgot to pack it with me. I love pleated skirts and dresses, they always look so effortless and chic. Plus, they can be worn in any season. What is there not to love?
5. WITH A VINTAGE GOLDEN TOP, DIY NECKLACE AND PEKO DIY PAINTED SHOES
Everything about this outfit tells a story. The sheer gold metallic long sleeve top was a part of my aunt's  wedding attire and if that doesn't make it a special and romantic, nothing will. The necklace I'm wearing was made by yours truly but I wasn't able to find any good photographs of it to link up so we will leave the story of a blue necklace for some future post. Similarly, the shoes have a DIY element to them. I painted them with glitter nail polish when the faux leather started to peel off. I was sure they were genuine leather and maybe they are on in the inside (such a comfy pair) but the outside needed fixing so I pulled out my nail polish. That would be the story. I took this photos at home by myself, so it is not an actual outfit but rather a combo I plan to wear in the future and I'm trying to make a mental note of. I hope it still counts as a sustainable thing to do because the effort is all about shopping one's closet.  I don't doubt it is an outfit I'd actually wear if I get a chance.

I have a lot of suit sets that I wear separately. This white vintage blazer is an example of that. I enjoy it and wear this blazer often but not with the matching skirt. Today you can see me styling this blue pleated skirt with a blue bag, black stilettos and a faux fur stole. I can't wait to wear this!

7. WITH A RED DENIM JACKET, A CAP AND WHITE MULES

Naturally, I had to pair this blue pleated skirt with my striped peter pan blouse (one of my most treasured items).I blogged about 8 ways to wear this puffed sleeve shirt so check that out. If you have a similar skirt and want to make it look more flattering, you can knot the blouse or tuck it in. Thus, you will be revealing the skirt's high waist and a high waist always makes one look taller and leaner- as demonstrated bellow. However, sometimes I don't feel like tucking in the shirt. It all depends on my mood, really.

9. WITH A STRIPED CARDIGAN,A  BLUE BAG AND BLACK STILETTOS
I'm trying to do the math and see if this striped cardigan is more than 30 years ago but I think it falls a few years short. I got it as a kid (it was a part of a dress, attached to it but I cut it out) but it was new and not second hand at the time, so no, it's not vintage yet. For this post, I styled it with black stilettos,a  blue bag and a baker boy hat.

Finally, this is an outfit I loved so much I wore it twice in a row. This white and blue tunics (or a dress depending on your interpretation ) is such a great item. Here I layered it under this blue pleated skirt and I just love the result. I also went for white mules to keep that blue and white contrast.

  1. Ooh, I just love this skirt - what a great colour, and the pleats are nicely graduated/narrow to the waist, which makes it super-flattering. I would agree that it's probably vintage, although without seeing the label, hard to say. Does it zip up? I love how classic it looks with your more tailored pieces. The faux fur look and the last look are my favourites. I've also done a pleated skirt with a tee (one of my concert tees), and I love the clash of ladylike and badass.

Have a wonderful weekend, my dear!

  4. It's such a cute skirt, what a nice gift to get! I have a few pieces form my sister's wardrobe, they make me happy when I wear them! :)
My fave ways are with the printed tees, but I do like it with the red jacket too! Blue and red are lovely together!

Hope that you are having a nice weekend! It's a quiet one at home here, as it's raining so much!

  12. I do love a pleated skirt and actually own several of them myself. Yours is a lovely, versatile shade of blue, and I'm not surprised you've been able to create so many outfits with it. My favourite is the second one. I did a double take when I read that what I thought was a top is actually a dress! How inventive! xxx

  22. Hello Ivana, these are one of my favorite posts to see in your site because they really show us that with creativity all the possibilities are just laying there to be discovered. We don't need to buy things every week in order to look good, actually the real good thing is to rediscover the most beloved pieces in our wardrobe :)

I don't have a favorite option, I mean all of them are so good but if I'd have to pick one but the one with the peter pan collar is so pretty and it reminds me of a day in spring reading my favorite book :)
