ART UPDATE + DR WHO COSPLAY FOR KEZZIE'S BIRTHDAY

Hello readers! How are you doing? Today I'll share some new paintings with you as well as show you a cosplay outfit. Lovely Kezzie from kerenzaallin-garner.blogspot.com is celebrating her 40th birthday and in her honour some bloggers are wearing Dr Who inspired outfits. Kezzie always does such a great job of cosplaying Dr Who, especially so when it comes to Clara's outfits.  I haven't really seen a lot of Dr Who episodes but I'm familiar with the concept of the show.  There are some definitely lovely fashion moments there. My cosplay is not the best because I didn't manage to find anything exactly like Dr Who outfits I was aiming for, but here it goes. I'm cosplaying Clara's red tartan skirt outfit by wearing a yellow tartan skirt. I could have done a better job if I planned this look in advance. I wanted to wear a white shirt with this but I didn't manage to find any white shirts.  This vintage skirt is my mother's and the black top is actually a dress but I wear it as a top because it's too short. Now, that I look at this, it's not very similar to the outfit I'm cosplaying but it's a bit similar and I hope it's the thought that counts. The sunglasses were there because the sun was too strong. Here I'm posing with one of my sketchbooks so that I can show you some of my art. Do you notice the white plum tree blossoms behind me? The spring has arrived to Mostar. I love  my balcony right now. 

SISTERS- ACRYLIC PAINTING ON PAPER

I made this painting back in January. I remember I painted it after a period of a few days spend working with pencils. It was a sort of self-imposed ban on painting because I wanted to practice other mediums.  You know picking up brush again felt so good. I just throwed some paint  on paper and created this image without a plan in my mind. It's a bit rough around the edges, but I absolutely love it. Sometimes it is good to create something without second guessing myself, if you know what I mean. Many paintings take so much time, planning, preparation and work that sometimes it feels so good to just let go and create something from your soul like these two sisters. The dresses they are wearing are not really visible in full, but  it doesn't matter. Just for the reference, I had some historical fashion in mind when I created them. I'm getting Latin vibes from these ladies. They could be French, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese.  I think this painting is a good indication of my personal style. When I paint without thinking too much, I always end up creating these soulful ladies with elongated faces and necks. 

OUR LADY OF FLOWERS- ACRYLIC PAINTING ON CANVAS

This is another painting I made without a plan in my mind. Acrylic is not really the ideal medium for this kind of paper, usually I use a thicker one from a proper mixed media sketchbook but sometimes I also improvise- like when I run out of paper or want to see can it be done. Back to the subject of this painting. A friend of mine told me it looks like me. I have to say that I wasn't really inspired by myself. As I said, I painted this without thinking. Looking at it, I think I can see a subconscious influence of catholic imaginary which makes sense since I live in Herzegovina and are therefore surrounded by it.
