EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC OF RIVER NERETVA IN MOSTAR, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Without a doubt, the most iconic symbol of  Mostar city for me is (drum roll) river Neretva. It is an amazing river to admire, observe and get inspired by. If you visit Mostar, hanging around and exploring Neretva river is a must. There are other rivers in Mostar city that are just as lovely, but none is as potent and breath-taking as the Neretva river itself. I often talk about this river. I can't tell you how many locals have told me that I have opened their eyes to the beauty of Neretva river (probably because I can't shut up about it!). Considering that I spend so much time handing around this river, it makes sense to talk about what I like to wear for exploring Neretva's riverside. Today I'm presenting you a simple outfit featuring a denim skirt and a striped tee. This combo is perfect for a summer walk and it is the kind of outfit I really enjoyed wearing. Moreover, I love this outfit because it's all about being sustainable. There is always more that we can do and not all of my purchases and outfit choices are 100 percent sustainable but I'm definitely putting in an effort. I'm on a shopping ban this summer but generally speaking I tend not to shop fast fashion that much anyway. Sustainability it is definitely something that I think of more and more. I do try to do fashion in a sustainable way, whether it is by shopping my closet, wearing vintage or taking good care of my clothes. More and more people are talking about being more sustainable and  that's great!

THE STORY OF AN OUTFIT
Now, let's talk this casual summer styling. The t-shirt I'm wearing is vintage plus it has a DIY element ( I sewed the hearts myself from a material that is also vintage, ha ha- bonus points for me!). The denim skirt is an item I've got plenty of wears from (outfit proof herehere, here, here and here!) and it's from a Croatian brand I love (Amadeus) so I feel it's an ethical purchase. The scarf is the only item that could be labelled as fast fashion, I bought it earlier this spring for next to nothing. However, I wore it so many times I feel justified in my purchase. I wouldn't buy something just because it is trendy, I bought it because I really do get a lot of wear from my scarves. I own a lot of second hand and vintage scarves too. The bag was a birthday gift (years ago) and it has been my top summer bag for years (outfit proof here and here). As for the sandals, they're from an amazingly durable orthopedic art brand I had the best experience with so far. I bought them back in the spring and was waiting impatiently for the summer to start. I know that the summer has only started, but I've already worn them so much (outfit proof here and here) and I have a feeling they will be my top fashion shoe!

NOW LET'S GET BACK TO TALKING ABOUT NERETVA RIVER!
As the title of this post suggests, today I will talk about experiencing magic of river Neretva. Now, there are many ways you can experience the magic of this river, be it by rafting or sailing, swimming and diving (not all areas are perfectly safe for swimming, though), eating and dining (many restaurants specialize in classical dishes inspired by Neretva river such as the famous eel stew) or just hanging around the river itself. Grabbing a cup of coffee (or a cocktail) in a bar or cafe that offers a view of Neretva river is a good option too. I will link up to some of my older post to give you Neretva river exploration ideas and inspiration.

  3. The Neretva river looks amazing. I love when the sun sparkles on a running river like this. Three rivers run through the city next to us. There are so many amazing parks and trails to enjoy them. We don't have those amazing mountainous view that you have though! Your outfit is perfect for a hike. Abba was adorable. I am sad to hear you lost her.

    1. Thank you Val, I'm happy you like this river and I love when the sun sparkles on running rivers or creeks too, it makes them look so whimsical. Abba was the cutest doggie, it was really hard for me and my husband when we lost her.

  5. Dearest Ivana,
your DIY heart shirt looks great, you've done well! :-) And it is true, the landscape around the river Neretva is worth noting! I understand that you like walking there. How sad, however, that you had a cute dog that was poisoned! Almost the same thing happened to my brother's dog two years ago, fortunately the vet just managed to save her! (It was very close...)

    1. Fortunately the vet was able to save your brother's dog, the same thing happened to some of our friends, sometimes the vets could help and sometimes there was nothing the vet could do. It was 1 am when we came home from a wedding part and found her lying in front of our home and although the vet answered the call right away, it was too late to help her.
