A PLEATED MIDI BLUE DRESS FROM AMADEUS

Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers! I think I may have found THE perfect blue dress for me. You know that I'm very selective with what I bring into my closet because I enjoy shopping my closet so much. Sometimes I do buy something new. Do you remember how in my last post I promised to show you what was in my shopping bag? Well, today I will do just that. The newly acquired item in my closet is a pleated blue dress with ruffled sleeves. It's from Croatian fashion brand Amadeus (aka AMDS). I've never collaborated with this brand, but I've written about them many times just because I like them so much. I browsed their website shop looking for this dress to link it up for you, but I didn't manage to find the exact one (maybe it sold). So, I will link up this dark blue pleated dress that is quite similar instead.

When I walked up in the store, this dress immediately caught my eye. It was on sale, but I would have bought it even if it wasn't because it is so perfect. This gorgeous dress was available in just two colours and I tried both of them on. I wanted to buy both of them on the spot, but unfortunately there was a little hole in the green version of this dress so I bought only the blue one. There was another identical blue dress left in the shop and now I'm sorry I didn't get that one as well because it would make for a great gift for someone. I wore the dress for a dinner date with hubby the same day. As I was writing this post, I realized that I should take some pictures of this dress in broad daylight so you can see it in better details. So, I came up with another way to style it. My husband took some photographs of me in this dress this morning, so I could show you not one but two ways to style it. I added a bit of light to the photographs taken in Split city because it was already evening when they were taken. When I edit my photographs, sometimes I make collages it is easier for you to scroll and to avoid having similar photographs (saving on space really). Moreover, at times I make the photographs lighter or use the sharpen tool. I don't manipulate my photographs in other way. Scroll down to see and read more.

THE STORY OF MY OUTFIT
Well, I already told you the story of my new new dress, so let's talk about items I have styled it with.
THE YELLOW BAG
This plastic yellow bag is so fabulously light and such a fantastic pop of colour, it is no wonder it has been my favourite for year. I've had it for years and I wear it all the time. Some people are anti-plastic materials but I think what maters is how we use plastic. The problem with plastic is not in the material itself but the wasteful way we treat it. A plastic bag can last for years, it is durable and practical. Yes, a plastic bag can be sustainable if you wear it all the time.  I bought this bag in the Borsa store in Mostar. Ever since I moved to Mostar, I pretty much bought all my bags in this chain of stores because the owner is my husband's friend and I like to support businesses of my friends. Borsa stores import all their bags and merchandise from Italy.  You can see how I styled this bag before HERE, HERE, HERE ETC....
THE TROPICAL PRINT SANDALS
Now, the only other item in this outfit to discuss are these tropical print sandals. I wore them in my last post as well. They are one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned and that is saying a lot because I'm a walker and I highly value a comfy pair.

DATE NIGHT IN 'PEARL OF ORIENT' RESTAURANT IN SPLIT
I have written about this restaurant so many times! It is one of my two favourite Asian restaurants in Split city. We had such a great time that night. I ordered bamboo soup for myself and my husband had some hot spice soup. We both followed our soups with multiple portions of meat dumplings and finished with tuna and salmon sushi portions. It was a delicious dinner for sure. Both of us love Asian food so much. I already miss this restaurant. We always dine in these two Asian restaurants (Pear of Orient & Restaurant Asia) when we are in Split. Both of these restaurants are within the walking distance of one another, located in my old neighbourhood (where I used to live before I moved to Mostar). Why not try them both if you're visiting Split? Do visit Split city if you have a chance.

A MORE DRESSED UP WAY TO WEAR THIS PLEATED DRESS
This morning I decided to take more photographs of this dress so you can see it better (in natural light). I figured it made sense to dress it up because the first outfit I showed to you was a more casual way to wear it. So, this time I paired this dress with gold accessories. I removed the fabric belt and wore it as a scarf in my hair. Instead of a belt that came with this dress, I wore a gold one that would match the gold details in the pair of heels I chose for this look. I completed the look with a straw bag. I plan to wear this outfit to a special occasion of sorts, maybe as a wedding guest or something like that. In fact, what I liked so much about this dress and the reason why I bought it is because it is so versatile. It can be worn both for special occasions and for every day. It's all a matter of dressing it up and down. I love to have such dresses in my closet because they make choosing an outfit so easy. When you have a pretty dress, all you need to worry about are accessories. If you're in a rush for time, it only takes a minute to put a pretty dress on. No wonder dresses are my 'go to' pieces. This is especially valid for summer, when a dress is one of the most comfortable items a woman can wear. I think that maybe men should consider wearing dresses again, like they did in ancient Rome and many other societies. Dresses are so easy to wear!

HOW I WORE IT BEFORE? Since this dress is new, the only items to link up are again the accessories.

THE GOLDEN BELT- Last time I wore it was last Friday (here). I wore it many times with the floral dress it originally came with.

THE STILETTO HEELS WITH METALLIC ACCENTS-I've had this pair of heels of years but I didn't wear them often because I left them in my parent's apartment. Last time I wore them was to a wedding in 2015 (here).

THE STRAW BAG- This bag is new and the first time I wore it was last Friday (here). Since then, I've worn it quite a few times but I have yet to share these outfits. It was a great purchase.

As always, thank you for reading and visiting. Have a lovely week ahead!

  1. The dress is gorgeous and you look amazing in it. I have a plastic bag too and it is very durable. Plastics are great if they are used for long-lasting items, I see it as sustainable. I love your outfit. xx

  4. You know you really love a piece if you would be willing to purchase it at full price. This dress is the perfect combination of timeless elegance and feminine chic. The light blue color is lovely on you. The way you styled it with a metallic belt and shoes really kicks up the glam factor too.

  5. Oh, that's a total jammy dress, Ivana! I love a solid coloured dress that can be dressed up or down, just switching up the accessories. This would be an A+ if it had pockets!

Love the casual styling of it (which is still about 10x more stylish than anyone else you might see!), but the dressier look is my favourite. I really love those shoes - they are an interesting choice, but I like that you've incorporated another colour into the outfit through them.

Your dinner sounds amazing. We have so many Asian restaurants here (Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai being predominant), your mind would be boggled by the selection.

  8. Dear Ivana,
this new pleated blue dress looks really wonderful on you. And even though it's new, you've already worn it in two different styles. I am convinced that you will find many ways to wear this dress - I spontaneously think of a red belt and red shoes, what do you think of that?
I am glad that you had such a nice evening with your husband and that you ate well in one of your favorite Asian restaurants in Split. My husband and I also love Asian food (and my husband loves spicy food, too :-))
    Hugs from Austria,

  16. This dress is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!! I can totally understand why you are smitten with it. Plus, it has a real Grecian vibe to it and I know that you, like I, very much love the Grecian dress look!
The colour is utterly beautiful and you styled it to perfection!
I can't wait to see further iterations of this dress!

Plastic is one of the most useful and crucial inventions of the 20th century and it is only bad when it is single use and then not disposed of responsibly. For instance, I ADORE my plastic acrylic jewellery- it's light, fun and is a brilliant resource for artisans to create beautiful things with.
It's brilliant when it means we can carry things around and keep them sealed, intacr and it us light. It's often waterproof too.
I have the issue with it when it is single use, e.g for food that definitely doesn't need to be in plastic and when it ends up in landfill. Other than that, it's very good!
