HIKING IN SUMMER, MOSTAR CITY STYLE

We are back in Mostar city, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I hope you don't mind me switching from one country to another. Regular readers of my blog know that I'm from Croatia but my husband is from Bosnia and Herzegovina. We sort of live in both countries. There's no telling where we might spend the next week. I'm all about local travel and exploring the area I live in, I just happen to live in two countries. Anyhow, I'm taking you to a secret lake that not many know of or visit! I didn't know about it until my husband showed it to me. Now, I love coming here.

WHAT TO WEAR FOR HIKING IN THE SUMMER? Here you can see me wearing a sensible hiking outfit suitable for summer weather. Once again, I shopped my closet. Last time I wore this white ruffled tunics was in this post when I layered it under the dress. This time I tucked it into a maxi gypsy skirt (last worn here in April). I finished the look with no name sneakers (worn here) and a mini black bag.  I felt really comfortable in this outfit. Maxi skirts are a very practical item for summer. Moreover, it turned out to be quite photogenic, maybe because of the ruffles. The green shades on this maxi skirt match the green waters of the lake quite nicely and the city itself is white like my tunics. Oh, Mostar is such a stunning and photogenic city. I have to make sure my outfits are photogenic too. ;)

HIKING IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL

Hiking is always a good idea (read about the benefits of hiking here) but especially so in the warmer months. You should always pay attention to the sun in the summer, but in any season weather conditions are something to be taken into consideration. Still, it is easier to put on sunscreen and avoid the sun when it is at its strongest than to hike in the colder months or when it is rain. Not to say anything of how easy it is to take cute hiking photos in the summer. Yes, there are definitely benefits to hiking in the summer. It's practically summer already, so light clothing is a must. I love hiking because it is an easy and an affordable form of exercises that doesn't cost you anything but your time. Being in the nature is good for the soul. I mean urban hiking is alright too, but with the pandemic and everything, it makes sense to avoid the crowds. Plus,  it is so nice to get away from the city sometimes. Hiking at the edges of the city can be so relaxing. It is the perfect way to escape the city without actually escaping it.  Hiking is usually a reward in itself, but if you want to be rewarded for your hiking- the hiking uphill in search of  a beautiful view is the way to go. I always greatly enjoy the bird panorama of Mostar city. I admit that I don't always accomplish this bird perspective view by hiking, we sometimes visit the hills surrounding Mostar the easier way- by car, but there is definitely something extra special about hiking your way and being rewarded with a magnificent view. That's how I feel about it anyway. Today I'll share with you photographs from one such uphill hike. This time I was rewarded with a stunning view of the lake. Look at that colour! Regular readers of my blog already know : 'There is a hidden lake in Mostar city!'

  5. That is always so satisfying when you find a hidden gem like that lake, isn't it, Ivana? What a lovely place - it pays to find out where the locals go, too! Your outfit is so pretty and also practical - and that skirt's Swoosh Factor is sky-high! Maxis are wonderful in summer, and I'm looking forward to wearing some of mine a lot this year!

  9. Hello Ivana, first of all thanks as usual for your constant support on my blog and on Instagram!

And I don't mind to see that you're posting about two countries, actually it is really good and you offer a different point of view! It is cool to know that you're navigating between different places and both are part of your life right?!

Mostar City sounds like the perfect place to go and hike! I must admit I don't hike a lot but sometimes I do it in the mountains in Barcelona. Similar to Mostar City, Barcelona is full of mountains and hills, some of them offer really good views. Actuallly that's the nicest part of hiking right? The reward you get when you finally get to the top!

But obviously there are certain considerations to take into account, like a correct outfit (yours is nice but also looks comfortable) and avoiding the sun in the strongests hours, also the sunscreen as you well mentioned!

Loved the layout in this blog post and your attitude about taking a walk among the mountains! The views from Mostar City also look amazing!

    Enjoy the weekend!

  10. Dear Ivana,
I LOVE your hiking outfit! The gypsy skirt and ruffled tunics look so cute and look so good on you. Please excuse me for not reporting in such a long time. There's so much going on with me and I just didn't have the time or head to blogging. Fortunately, this week I finally got around to being Nadine for two days.

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.
