A Pastel Outfit For a Day In the Country (Goranci, Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Today I'm sharing with you an outfit that is all about pastel shades. Interesting how this summer both pastel and crayon colours are trending, right? Not that I'm complaining. As much as I love the crayon red and yellow, sometimes I feel like wearing a pastel outfit. Dust and pastel shades are always a very feminine choice, aren't the? Moreover, pastels are easy to style. For example, pastel green and blue match nicely. Speaking of which, today look is very matchy-matchy on purpose. Sometimes I feel like wearing an outfit whose colours are complementary one to another. The brown sandals match the handle of the bag, and the bag itself matches the green and blue of the dress.

Nothing beats a little escape from the city, right? Goranci is one of my favourite places to relax  & chill. This charming little village is located in vicinity of Mostar city. It is a wonderful choice for outdoor activities, such as hiking, strolling or cycling. I visit it quite often.  You can see some of my previous visits here and here. The day we visited it was a perfect summer day. In contrast, today it is not only raining but it is also a bit windy and cold. Not a typical summer day, but well, what can we do? At least I can warm myself seeing these lovely sunny photographs, right?

This dress was a gift from a friend. I like its cut, it reminds me of the twenties. I just love this fashion period. I braided my hair and pulled it up, to resemble the shorts cut of the twenties. Alright, I admit I just made that up. Maybe I did, but on a subconscious not a conscious level. I don't put that my thought into my outfit, lol. You can see another way to style this dress here. This bag is pretty old but I still love it. I wore it previously on blog here, here and here. This bag was also a gift from my friends, a birthday gift if I remember well. When I got it, I thought that I will only wear it to beach, but with time I realized there are many ways to wear it. I do wear it only in the summer, but I don't wear it only for the beach. The older I get, the harder it is to get to the beach. #Adult life and all that. I might as well bring my 'beach' items with me and recreate that 'beach' vibe in my every day life.

Another thing I like about this dress is that it's basically made out of two parts.  I'm a big  fan of the sheer trend, but not brave enough to wear it, and findining the right undergarmets for sheer fabrics can be tricky. So, dresses like this one, that come with an underdress are a life saviour. If you a bit lazy and uncertain how to rock the sheer dress, you can always try to find a similar dress. To make it a bit more interesting, I wore it with a pastel pink cord that served as a belt. I think it even was a belt once, but it belonged to another skirt. I wear it in all kind of was nowadays. The dress has a bit of a subtle floral print in blue and pink, so  I reckoned this belt matches well.

Besides, as much as I love the beach, I love hills and mountains just as much, if not even more. There is something about high altitude that makes me feel so much better, both mentally and physically. I know I'm not the only one. Many people have told me that spending time in mountains did wonders from their health. This particular village isn't located at a very high altitude, but still I always feel better after a visit, even if it was a very short one. This was my first this year. I don't know why I waited this long. I should totally visit more often, maybe even consider hiking all the way from the city, instead of you know getting there the regular way, i.e. driving. I don't know have I ever told you this, but I dislike road traffic and I get car sick often. If I had it my way, I would walk, fly or sail everywhere. Tonight I have to catch a bus to drive me all the way to the capital of another country and I'm so nervous because it will be one long bus drive.

That would be all for today. I hope you've enjoyed this post. Tell me, what do you think about pastel dresses? Do you find them easy to style? Do you like this kind of subtle floral prints? Pastels are always good for creating a more subtle look, don't you agree? Do you like mountains and hills, or do you prefer the sea?  If you had to pick would it be a seaside vacation or a mountain one? In other words, would it be country or beach vacation? What kind of weather do you prefer? Sunny or Rainy? Cold or warm? Are you enjoying your summer? Do you have any exciting plans?

  6. What lush surroundings, perfect to show off that pretty dress and that fabulous bag - I do love a handbag (as opposed to a shoulder bag - they don't spoil the line of my dresses).
I'm not a fan of pastels - on me - but that dress is lovely on you and I like how you've done your hair.
I'm a beach person - nothing against mountains but sand and sea are best! xxx

  7. Oh that's a beautiful dress! Perfect for summer, and I like that belt with it.

It's a lovely bag so it's great that you can come up with more ways to wear it outside of the beach. I don't get to the beach as much as I'd like either!

Hope that you are having a great week so far :)

  15. This dress has a lovely silhouette and the soft floral print is really pretty and romantic. The underdress is a nice detail. I always like it when dresses are like that so I don't have to worry about wearing a slip underneath. Now that you mention pastels, I realized I don't really have many in my wardrobe even though I really like them.

  18. Dear Ivana, you look fanastic in your pastel dress! And what a great idea to wear this belt with it you have from another skirt. Love also your bag - your friend gifted you something beautiful - and long lasting. Yes, being an adult makes some things more difficult, even go to the beach :) But I know what you mean with your determination that you feel better after you have been in the mountains. I see it is really lovely in this little village in high attitude! Thanks for sharing this beautiful post! And hopefully the weather in your area is now again as good as it was when you took the pictures for this post.

  22. OMG, I so enjoyed this post and love the photos of you totally rocking the pastel dress. And what a great place this was. If I had to choose between the beach or the hillside right now, I pick the beach because I am living on an elevated location that used to be a mountain and all around are mountains so I get the best of everything. However, I'm always going to be partial to the mountains, even those that are not not so high. They call them hills I think hahah. I read that you feel amazing on higher up locations as it's because of the temperature that is soothing you on the mountains are usually cooler compared to an area that's flat and full of concrete, traffic and people. You look really beautiful in this floaty dress and I love your summer dressing, especially those sandals. Even though they're not flat, they're gorgeous :D xoxo
