TRAVEL WITH MY ART #5: FRANCISCAN MONASTERY, HVAR TOWN, CROATIA

Image
Hello! I'm continuing with Travel With My Art series. The idea is to travel together with the help of my art. Every time I will show you a different location I illustrated and write about it. Today I have a new painting to share with you and this time I illustrated a historical Franciscan monastery on island Hvar. Yesterday I shared a watercolour painting of Split and today I will take you to Hvar town.  As some of you might remember, last year I lived on island Hvar. Having had enough time to study this beautiful island, now I feel confident in illustrating it.  A HISTORICAL MONASTERY IN HVAR TOWN, CROATIA I visited this monastery last year in February. Read more about it here .  Back then, I  recommended visiting this place and I still stand by my word. Travelling internationally is somewhat restricted for many people right now, but hopefully it will be possible in the near future.  If you find yourself in  Hvar town, consider visiting this beautifu...

TRAVEL WITH MY ART #4: MATEJUŠKA, SPLIT, CROATIA

Image
Hello dear readers! Today I'll share another location illustration with you. As some of you know, I started a new feature on my blog that will be all about virtual travel with the help of my art and sometimes photographs. I think we can all use some virtual travel right now as travelling options are restricted. This watercolour pencil landscape was inspired by Split city, Croatia. More specifically, it was inspired by one of my favourite sights in Split city and that would be these absolutely gorgeous historical stone houses in immediate vicinity of  Matejuška port .  These beautiful stone houses seem to grow out of stones themselves. They look like something straight from the fairy- tale. I can never get tired looking at them, I tell you. So, why not illustrate them? When I saw a photograph of these stone houses in a touristic brochure, I decided to illustrate them and to use that promotional photograph as a reference. I sketched the houses with staetdler watercolour pencil...

FRIDAY FASHION ILLUSTRATION: SPRING VIBES

Image
Hello, how are you doing? Welcome to another Friday Fashion Illustration . I'm continuing with my fashion illustration series even if I'm currently more involved into landscape and portrait painting. Sometimes I'll skip a week but I do try to keep this feature alive. In fact, I skipped it last week because I was on a medically motivated trip to Split, Croatia and just didn't have the time to post. Last Tuesday, however, I returned to Mostar and to my art making work regime. This morning I got up a bit earlier to sketch something nice for today. I found an old photograph of mine and used it as a reference for this fashion illustration. I like to challenge myself and draw different poses. I think it's as a  good way to improve one's fashion illustrating skills as any. I changed the outfit a little bit, though. The floral pink dress from this illustration is a bit shorter than something I would normally wear (unless I'm heading for the beach or something) but ...

TRAVEL WITH MY ART #3: CHURCH OF OUR LADY OF KAZAN , IRKUTSK

Image
Hello, how are you? I hope you're doing well. I'm still struggling with low iron levels and it's not fun. With everything going on, I think we all need a bit of positive vibes right now. So, I'm continuing with   Travel With My Art , a fun art series I have started recently. The idea is to travel virtually together with the help of my paintings. My first  painting in this series was an acrylic landscape sketch devoted to a beach in Palermo, Sicily (Italy) and the second was an acrylic painting of bay Mala Stiniva on island Hvar (Croatia).   Today I'll share a watercolour pencil sketch of a place I never visited: a church of Our Lady of Kazan located in Irkutsk, Siberia (Russia). We can have a little travel talk in the comments as well. Maybe you have visited some of these places and want to leave your comment about it or you want to comment about the places you want to visit. Scroll down to see the work in progress photos of this painting. I gifted the original ...

TRAVEL WITH MY ART #2: BAY MALA STINIVA, ISLAND HVAR, CROATIA

Image
Hello readers! Yesterday I started  a new series on my blog called Travel With my Art . The idea is to take you places with my art by sharing my location illustrations and paintings. Today I'm sharing an acrylic painting of a bay Mala Stiniva on island Hvar, Croatia. I used mixed media paper from a sketchbook to make this painting.  Both the paper and the acrylics paints are from brand Royal Talens (not sponsored).  I used my own photograph as a reference. Scroll bellow. If you remember I already posted about this magical bay on my blog, you can read those posts   here and here .  WORK IN PROGRESS PHOTOGRAPHS If I remember correctly, made this landscape painting while listening to an audiobook. I'm not sure how much time I spent on it, maybe a few hours. It was a relatively quick landscape painting. I might redo it some day and make a more detailed version of it. This was a nice scene to paint. I'm not sure have I done these gorgeous colours justice with ...
