TRYING OUT NEW HIKING TRACK (MOUNTAIN OASIS RUJIŠTE, HERZEGOVINA)

Today I'm taking you to Rujište, a mountain oasis located only a short drive away from Mostar city. This beautiful area is located on mountain Prenj. Nicknamed the Herzegovina Himalayas, mountain Prenj boosts of peaks over two thousand meters high. We didn't go all the way to the top this time, though. Instead, we payed another visit to Snow House (Snježna kuća) hotel. This time I shared my lunch with the hotel's cat, not the dog (for the yellow dog I made friends with last time was nowhere to be seen). In addition, we tried the new recreational hiking track. I'm happy to report that my review of this track will be a positive one. The length of the track is around one kilometer, the climb is approximately seventy meters so it is perfect for recreational hikers.  Moreover, there are workout tables and instructions throughout the track (for those who really want to get serious about their fitness). Weekends are a great time to get back to shape (or at least try to). Spending time outdoors can boosts our immune system and be beneficial for our health (both mental and physical). So, get out of your couch and get moving!

THE STORY OF AN OUTFIT
I wore this outfit with heels in the morning (while I was still in Mostar city), but I changed to flats once we got to the mountain. I'm becoming more reasonable with my shoe choices. This outfit is all about layering. I have worn this floral dress many times on this blog of mine (for example here) but I don't think I paired it with this green vest before. I finished this outfit with a tartan blazer (or a light coat, whatever definition you prefer). All in all, it was a very comfortable and cozy styling. Perfect for an autumn hike.
READ ABOUT MY FIRST VISIT TO MOUNTAIN RUJIŠTE HERE

I know that I have said this before but isn't it amazing how all this natural beauty is located only 25 km from Mostar city? That's one thing that fascinates me about Herzegovina, it's so diverse. You can visit so many different areas just in immediate vicinity of Mostar and even more if we're talking about the region as such. Anyhow, if you are visiting Mostar, you definitely should drive here and enjoy the mountain air. I often state that Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of those underrated destinations. Herzegovina in particular offers all the benefits of Mediterranean climate, but at the same time you can enjoy the mountains that are only a short drive or a climb away.  My list of mountain attractions and oasis wouldn't be complete without Rujište. It is easy to get there by car and the high altitude ensures all the famous benefits of mountain air. I do enjoy enjoy these kind of improvised trips. They are easy to organize, don't take a lot of time and they still allow you to indulge your wanderlust. Do you love weekend getaways? Do you indulge in such trips and excursions? Do you like mountains?

  3. I'm pleased you change into flats - for a moment I thought you were wearing heels on your hike, haha! I was in awe. I used to work with a lady who liked to hike on the weekends - in her heels. I don't know how she did it but she had some very stylish hiking outfits haha!

Hope that you have a great weekend ahead of you :) I've got a scarf giveaway on my blog right now!

I'm glad you're becoming more reasonable with your footwear choices. My Mum used to hike in high heels when we went on walking holidays in the English Lake District back when I was a teenager, she was a nightmare! x

  11. How absolutely thrilling to be surrounded by such a choice of beautiful natural scenery. It's a totally different story where I live, and we have to drive quite a bit to find interesting places of natural beauty, and even then they do not compare to yours at all. I'm impressed with the height of mountain Prenj, two thousand metres is quite a lot. No wonder it is being compared to the Himalayas. Your newly discovered hiking track sounds like my cup of tea. I would love to get out of my couch, but the weather has been truly atrocious here ... xxx

  34. Absolutely amazing place worth to visit!
We have been recently in Bosnia and Herzegovina for three days, We visited Mostar, Sarajevo, Stolac and spend one night on a mountain road in 20 kilometers from the town of Stolac (because of a breakdown in the car). We met so many wonderful and helpful people in Bosnia and saw so many beautiful views that this country made an amazing impression on me.

Love your outfits Ivana, you are so chic and stylish even in mountains and it's really great for me!
