Sights to see, places to visit (+outfit post) / Znamenitosti za vidjeti, mjesta za posjetiti (+ odjevna kombinacija)

I'm starting a new feature on my blog called Sights to see, places to visit and this is my first post of the kind. Today I have for you one dinning recommendation and a bit of history to spice it up. That doesn't sound too bad, does it?. So if you ever happen to come to Mostar, I recommend you to visit one pub that besides a wonderful selection of beers, also serves exquisite wines (this is a wine region after all) and delicious dishes.

When I first came into Mostar, I have fallen in love with one particular street. It was the trees that so enamored me. They belong to the Platanus family of trees and in English they are called plane or plane trees. Thanks to this pub's website I have learned that these trees were planted in 1889 to welcome Belgian Crown princess Stephanie and Crown prince Rudolf of Austria and celebrate their visit to Mostar.

Let's get back to the way this history information connects with the pub I just recommended visiting. You see, many villas in this street date from the nineteen century. Moreover, one of them was recently restored and turned into a pub called Štefanijino šetalište (Stephanie's alley/ Stephanie Alle). You see originally this street with these two rows of these wonderful plane trees was named Stephanie Alle in honour of the visiting Belgian princess (today it is known as street of prince Branimir). Interesting, isn't it? I've never thought about this street as a historical sight to see, but it really is.

Prekrasni i ogromni Platani. Zahvaljući stranici pivnice koju sam vam upravo preporučila doznala sam da su ova stabla zasađena dane 1889. godine za doček i proslavu dolaska Belgijske princeze Štefanije i Austrijskog prijestonasljednika Rudolfa.

No, kakve to zapravo ima veze s ovim povijesnim informacijama?

  42. Kako lepo i romantično mesto!

U turističkoj ponudi, u nekim zemljama, postoje i ovakve stvari.

  50. I love learning such historical facts a lot, it's hard to believe that those trees were planted in 1889. How amazing is that, indeed. They were there before us and they're still going to be there after we're gone.
The photographs are fabulous, Ivana, you look more than charming there in that elegant outfit and the background is very attention catching too.
Now I'm planning to read your literary work, I mean a story written by you - "Conversation". I'm definitely going to share my opinion about it, as soon as I read it:)
