FASHION ILLUSTRATION, A PURPLE GOWN FROM VILLA VALENTINA SPRING SUMMER 2021 COLLECTION

Hello dear readers! Today I'm back with another fashion illustration. As soon as I saw this gorgeous and dramatic indigo gown from Villa Valentina Spring Summer 2021 collection on Pinterest, I knew I had to illustrate it. I have never stumbled upon Villa Valentina clothes before. Honestly,  I have no idea who is behind this brand, but their new collection is absolutely stunning and I might illustrate it some more. Anyhow, back to the fashion illustration of the day. The medium is coloured pencils on paper ( link for the pencils not sponsored, just trying to be informative). It took me three minutes to sketch this Villa Valentina indigo gown with a pencil, but more than half an hour to colour it. Drawing ruffles takes more time than drawing some other fabrics, but I actually love illustrating ruffles. Special thanks to Youtuber Zoe Hong for teaching me how to do it better in this tutorial.   If you want to improve your fashion illustration skills, I would recommend this Youtuber because she actually teaches Fashion Illustration and Design and knows all about it whereas I'm just a hobby fashion illustrator and don't have comprehensive knowledge about the fashion industry. On the other hand, if you need a language teacher or translator, I'm your gal.

LET'S HAVE A LOOK AT THE REFRENCE PHOTOGRAPH, SHALL WE? Bellow you will find a few collages with my illustration being transformed into digital art.
MY LAST FASHION ILLUSTRATION POST HERE.

Today I shall keep this post brief as I've been struggling with chronic pain lately so I'm a bit low on energy.  As some of my readers know, I suffer from some chronical illnesses. Normally, I love writing long posts but expect them to be shorter in the foreseeable future.

Thank you for visiting!

  7. Hello dear Ivana, I hope you’re doing great! But well I read you're struggling a little bit with illness, I hope from my heart that you can feel better soon :) Sending you my best

As usual thank you for the love about my work and my posts, this means the world to me 😀

I was a bit out of the blogging world due to work, but I'm always happy to come back and see your beautiful art and the inspiration behind the illustrations. I really love that you took a reference but that you embraced the pose, the garment and everything related to the picture in your own style. That gown is so beautiful and the purple is so bright, actually such a mysterious color but full of magic to me!

Gonna take a look at the other posts I missed during the last days!

Stay safe and take care :)

    1. Thanks Pablo, it's a curious shade of purple, isn't it? There is a lot of blue in it. An indigo gown, I think they called it but it must be indigo on the purple spectrum.

  8. Vestido roxo? Ah, meu deus, logo
roxo, uma das cores que não consigo
    nem vislumbrar?
Enfim, o que seria do daltônico se não
    enxergasse as outras também?
    Beijos e beijos, muitos.

  10. You've captured that dramatic gown brilliantly, Ivana. I can imagine it isn't straightforward to draw ruffles, but you did a great job, giving the dress's colour lots of depth in the process. Sending you healing vibes for your chronic pain, my lovely friend. Do take your time to rest and heal! xxx

    1. Thank you. Ruffles take a bit more time to draw but they are also fun to draw.

  12. Wow, what a dress - it is SO PRETTY! all those ruffles! I can see why it would take you longer to colour and shade - ruffles and folds in fabric can be very tricky to get the shading right.

  14. Ah, that is SUCH a gorgeous dress and again, you've captured the flow marvelously! I love how you can see the iridescence in the illustration.
Sorry to hear you've been in a lot of pain and the energy is low- it's horrible to think that with all your passion, energy and interests that this stops you so much. I am glad that you are able to draw lots still. Don't worry about not so much writing- sometimes, it's better to write less- I am always guilty of writing too much!
