HOW TO WEAR DRESSES WITH SNEAKERS FOR SPRING & SUMMER?
If there is one outfit that screams spring and summer for me, it's dresses worn with sneakers. Naturally, dresses and sandals is another lovely pairing, but sneakers also have many benefits. From being orthopedic (not all of them but still) to being appropriate for all kind of terrains, there is no denying that sneakers are practical. You can take them anywhere, from a rock beach to a sandy one. You can pair them fun socks or tights for those days it's still not warm enough. Long story short, they do make for a lovely choice in this season. What are your thoughts? Do you like to wear sneakers in spring and summer? My last post was about styling dad sneakers with jeans and a blazer, and today I'll show you some of my favourite sneaker and dress combinations. If you ask me, the answer to the question can I wear dresses with sneakers is - yes, you absolutely can.
THE FEMININE APPEAL OF THE DRESS AND SNEAKER COMBO
I find that while androgynous style has its benefits, generally speaking I do prefer feminine outfits. I guess it could be said that I tend to gravitate toward feminine clothing. Achieving femininity and not compromising of comfort is actually not that hard these days. Casual style is very open to other influences, and you can bring tons of feminine elements into it. Whatever makes you feel feminine will cut it. After all, it is all about how we feel right? When it comes to outfits, my casual but girly formula is pretty simple: I pair dresses or skirts with sneakers. It is interesting how much difference a pair of shoes can make. If you wear casual shoes such as sneakers, your outfit automatically becomes more comfortable. A great way to balance it to opt for a dress. Dresses and sneakers have been my go to combination when I want to wear something casual but girly. This outfit formula is simply perfect for both spring and summer. Moreover, it is something I plan to wear all Summer long.
DRESSES WITH SNEAKERS OUTFIT FORMULA IS MORE VERSATILE THAN IT SEEMS
A great thing about pairing dresses with sneakers is that there are so many ways to do it. We get to choose between so many different dress and sneakers styles. For example, we can play with lengths. A midi or maxi dress worn with sneakers will look different than a midi one. Moreover, there are so many different sneaker models to choose from. I don't actually own a ton of sneakers because I don't see the point in pilling clothes and shoes. However, those sneakers that I do have, I often wear with dresses and skirts so they do get plenty of wear. My favourite pair of sneakers is probably the striped Startas model (a Croatian brand). I might get another pair this summer, they are really an ideal choice for summer. Bellow you can see some of my favourite sneakers and how I wear them with dresses.
DRESSES WITH CONVERSE STYLE SNEAKERS
I have a pair of converse style sneakers my husband picked up for me in some supermarket. I was never temped to buy a real Converse pair. I don't see why a shoe made from rubber and textile should cost that much. Yes, design does count but I don't see the difference between the imitation and the real thing. Generally speaking, the Converse style sneaker is great for spring and summer because it is so light. It is probably the 'it' sneakers to wear to summer festivals. I don't think it's a good orthopedic choice just because it is so flat, but it does look cute with many different outfits. I like to wear it both with plain and printed dresses. When it comes printed, it can allow you to create a subtle print mixing. It is a shoe that is easy to customize and DIY, so that's another bonus. I've seen many girls draw things on this sneaker type. Bellow you can see three different summer outfits I wore it with in the past. Let me know how you like them.
DRESSES WITH WHITE TRAINERS & DAD SNEAKERS
With the athletic sneaker trend going strong you can really get away with wearing your running shoes with whatever you want. You can style your trainers with a variety of dresses. For a fresh look, try pairing your running shoes with a statement dress. Don't forget to have fun with layering too. For example, if you want to style dad's sneakers in a girly way, you should try styling them with a girly dress. Makes sense, right? You can make any outfit more feminine by putting on a girly dress. If you want to add additional interest to your street outfit, why not wear a flared or a princess sleeve dress? A bit of statement sleeve goes a long way. Ruffled dresses are another way to make your sneaker outfit more romantic.
DRESSES WITH STRIPED SNEAKERS
Now, it's time to share a few outfits with my favourite pair of striped Startas sneakers. You can have a look at the Startas collection here (not sponsored, I just really like them).'There is only one problem', I said to myself after I bought my first fair, 'How am I supposed to want to take them off my feet when they're so damn comfortable?'. I resolved that problems by wearing them every day for a whole week and returning to my heels collection only after I started to miss it. There is a solution for every problem, as they say. Seriously though, I do think this is the perfect summer shoe. I'm a big fan of stripes, and this striped sneaker really won my heart. Bellow are some of the summer outfits I've paired it with. I like to pair sneakers with printed dress. I think it's such a great look. Do you agree? Another thing I do often is wearing statement necklaces with the sneakers and dresses, mostly those I made myself. Scroll down to see more 'dress with striped sneakers outfits'.
Summer (and late spring) is perhaps the ideal time to rock printed dresses with sneakers. It is such an easy and comfy look. With a printed dress, you don't need many accessories to get noticed. A printed dress is a statement piece on its own. In other words, perfect for those days when you're in a rush or feeling lazy. Not that you shouldn't get more creative if you feel like it? There are many ways to style a printed dress. You can always play with accessories to make it stand out even more. What about you? Do you like to wear printed dresses in summer? If yes, do you pair them with sneakers? As I already said, I love to pair them with this striped pair and create a bit of subtle print mix. I do love a good print mix. How about you?
As always, thank you for reading and visiting. Have a lovely week ahead!

Baci!

DeleteOh my gosh, Ivana! You look sooo good with bangs. Why don't you wear it more?
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love wearing heels, sometimes my feet just need a break. Sneakers are also more practical if a lot of walking will be involved too. Very cute outfits and good post.

DeleteThose striped pumps (that's what we Brits of a certain age call them) are fab. They're practical but feminine and quirky and look great with all your dresses. I love that you're sharing the brand 'cos you love it - I distrust sponsored posts but believe in a real and honest recommendation. x
ReplyDeleteSponsored posts are a mixed lot, but when we've been wearing a brand for ages and recommend it because we know it's great, that's a best recommendation indeed.
DeleteI love wearing dress and sneakers!

ReplyDeletethank you dear.
DeleteI'm a big fan of sneakers as well. I always wear comfortable shoes when I have to walk more during the day and sneakers (orthopedic or not) tend to be more comfortable. They also come in a variety of fun colors so it's not like one has to sacrifice style :)
ReplyDeleteI think all the ways in which you paired dresses with sneakers are lovely. It's such a fun combination and the fact that it's also comfortable makes it a real winner for a long day. Have a wonderful week.
