HOW TO STYLE FLARE JEANS? SPRING OUTFIT PROPOSAL

I do love a good pair of flare or bell bottom jeans. They are definitely one of my favourite jeans styles. I even illustrate them pretty often. It's not just flared sleeves that I love, I have a weak spot for flared pants as well. Today's outfit proposal is all about casual vibes. It's also about shopping one's closet. The pastel green blazer I'm wearing is vintage and I had it for as long as I can remember. The white shirt was hand made by a lovely lady who makes Croatian traditional folklore garnets. These jeans I had for a few years and they are from a low cost Italian brand Piazza Italia. They are not the best fit around the waist (perhaps they are a size too big for me), but they are very comfortable. My green ankle boots are from Peko, a brand I'm not exists any more. The leather bag was a gift. That's my outfit proposal of the day. If you want to wear your flared blue jeans in a comfy way, I suggest paired them with a white linen shirt and a pastel blazer.

WHEN IN DOUBT WEAR FLARE JEANS
One thing I love about flare jeans is how they flattering they can be. There is something about the flare cut that can be balance one's silhouette, especially if you're a lady (like myself) with wide hips. This pair is slightly less flattering because it has some bleached areas. If you're going for a slimmer look, avoid jeans with bleached or lighter parts. On the other hand, if you want to look more curvy, this optical illusion might help you achieve that. There is a pair of jeans for everything nowadays, isn't there? One of reasons why I love flare jeans is because they look great with pointy shoes and I do have a slight addition to pointy shoes. Anyhow, I wore this outfit for a little weekend getaway with my husband. Granted it might not be the best outfit for hiking, these pointy ankle boots are super cute but definitely not the best shoe choice for outdoors. However, we didn't hike for very long, so I didn't regret my outfit choice. Quite on the contrary, I think this was the perfect outfit for our little weekend getaway.

HOW I STYLED THESE FLARED JEANS LAST SUMMER

If it is already warm where you are from, here is an outfit proposal for summer days. Last summer I wore this pair of flared jeans paired with a white dress/tunics and sandals. I completed this outfit with a hand made necklace. Today we had a sunny day (unlike last weekend), so this outfit bellow is sometimes I could have worn today (if I hadn't something else in mind). I'll show you want I wore today soon enough. Speaking of the weather, how is it treating you? Here we got a little shower today but it's been a warm and sunny day. It seems that May is finally starting to feel like spring and it is about time, isn't?

HIKING AREAS AROUND MOSTAR

One thing I love about Mostar is that there are so many wonderful hiking areas. Last weekend we went to Goranci ( a near by village we visit fairly often) and after dining in a local restaurant we drove around a bit, stopped by a friend's vacation home and finally hiked a bit before heading back. I don't know about you but there is nothing quite like mountain air to make me feel better. I love elevated hiking areas, be it hills or mountains. I'm happy to live in a country that has so many amazing mountains and hills.  One thing I enjoy about hiking is the opportunity to connect with local wildlife. We actually saw hundred of horses while we were hiking. I had no idea there were so many of them out there. What about you? Do you enjoy hiking?

  2. The 70s are my favorite style due to the flowing fabrics of bell bottoms and other clothes. This is such a gorgeous place for a walk. The wild horses are stunning. There are many horse ranches here but no wild beauties.

  6. I agree, 1970s style flared jeans are so feminine and balance out the hips perfectly. I love your folklore blouse so much that I want to fly over to Croatia to buy one!

  7. It's been a while since I wore jeans, but I definitely need some flares in my wardrobe. I'm a wide-hipped girl myself, you know! Love the folklore blouse, which really fits the 1970s vibe, and that sleeveless tunic is a beauty! You're so lucky to have nature on your doorstep. How amazing are those wild horses! xxx

    1. Thank you. Flares do come in handy. The white tunics is adorable, I think my mother actually stole that one from me last summer. I think she plans to wear it with her white jeans.

    2. and yes I do believe these might be wild horses. I would have to check it. I know for a fact that there are wild horses in the Livno region, but I only know of semi-wild ones here.

  8. Mountain air is AMAZING! I agree. We had the most wonderful mountain walks on our honeymoon in Switzerland - the air was beautiful.
I love your outfit ideas- they are super stylish! I cannot carry off the blazer on the shoulders look though! My shoulders are too narrow and they slide!

    1. thank you dear. I love the over shoulder look but it is hard to wear it in real life. It helps if we one has wide shoulders like myself.

  9. The flared jeans look so good with the white blouse and pastel blazer! The color of the blazer is beautiful and it's a perfect way to add some color. I haven't found a pair of flared jeans that fit me really well since I'm short, but when I do I'm going to use your outfit as inspiration!

  10. What a fabulous spring outfit and you're certainly demonstrating the style and versatility of flare jeans. I tend to wear skinny and straight jean styles more. I've just never found the right flare jeans for me. I'm not sure if they work on my body type since I'm built more boyish and have straight narrow hips.

    1. a big flare typically doesn't look as good on narrow hips as it creates a triangle shape, but a more subtle (smaller) flare cut such as bootcut should work fine. Bootcut jeans that are similar to skinny jeans but flare out slightly in the lower part are a great choice.

  14. Flare jeans are actually my favorite style of jeans as well. I tend not to wear them in the winter though because they get so much salt on them, but now that it's spring it's definitely time to bring them out. I love how you styled your's. The look is so elegant.

    1. yes, it can be tricky to style them for rainy or snowy weather because they absorb water like a sponge (and I'm assuming you mean salt that is put on the streets for snow?). It is definitely easier to style flare jeans for spring and summer. Thank you.

  16. I love flared jeans especially when they have a slight fringed end. I tend to wear them more in spring and winter. I'm happy they've become more popular at my school this past year.

  18. The better part about such flared jeans is that they can be worn by both genders and the flare can be made more artistic or chic for women.
