NEW ART & PAINTINGS: INSPIRED BY CROATIA

Hi there! I have some new acrylic paintings that I would like to share with you. I will also post some old ones, and that would be that. The paintings I'm sharing will mostly be seascapes inspired by island Hvar and Croatian coastline but there is also one painting inspired by Neretva river. Like many a Dune protagonist (Dune as in Frank Herbert's SF series), I'm a sea child. I do love the sea, and I think it's an endless inspiration. However, I've also learned to appreciate river magic, so it is appropriate there is one river painting here as well. Scroll down to see more.

We'll start with this little painting titled Island Hvar. The medium is acrylic paints on mixed media paper. (DIMENSIONS: 12 inches X 9 inches( 30.5 cm X 22.9 cm), weight: 90 lb (190 g/m2), the original painting isn't for sale, though. You can buy a similar original painting here.)  It took me a few hours to finish this painting, I really tried to capture the sea movement in this one. I also included a photograph that  I used as a reference. I used my own photograph for a reference, I usually do when I attempt such paintings. I will include a few more of my photographs in this post just to give you the feeling of the place I tried to capture with brushes and paint.

Seeing this photograph makes me nostalgic. I was planning a Croatian vacation but I had to give up because I need to chase the red tape. I did manage a short visit to Croatia and I promise to blog about it soon. In the meantime, we'll just have to make do with these photographs and paintings, right?

I posted a few photographs in my stories, I sometimes do that. Check out my instagram @modaodaradosti for more.

This is not the first time that I was inspired to paint island Hvar. Here is an acrylic on canvas painting of island Hvar that I gifted to someone eventually (if I remember correctly). There is also this painting inspired by my grandmother's village. I gifted that one as well. Anyhow, bellow you can see an acrylic painting I made a long time ago. I still like the colours I used but I added some new finishing touches to this one. It is always interesting to look at one's old works.

Being productive:)

Bellow you can see my new acrylic painting of Neretva river. The dimensions and the specifications are the same as for the first painting. I didn't really use a specific photograph for a reference, I just had a peek at one of my photographs. I can't say I'm happy with how this one turned out. I painted it after the first one and my hands were already getting tired, so I didn't manage to work my magic. It's a shame, for river Neretva is an interesting theme. I'm sure I'll do better in future.

Bellow you can see yet another painting inspired by Croatia and its islands (but not by any specific place). The dimensions are the same as for the first painting and so is the medium. I actually started this painting ages ago and totally forgot about it, but then I found it and finished it up. All of these paintings were either painted or toched up on the same day. It was a productive day I guess. Anyhow, I used a lot of yellow paint to make the pine trees stand out. How did I do? How do you like the painting? I hope not too much because this one is intended as gift as well.

That would be all. You won't find these paintings in my tictail shop, but frames and prints are (as always available in my redbubble shop). Thank you for reading and have a lovely day.

  4. Hello Ivana
Your style is very impressionistic and I like much more to see your paintings than the photos because I am a lover of strong colors, the colors that nature can not have.
I also live near a river and near the Atlantic ocean, the sound of the sea and the smell is unmistakable.

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.
