MIRKO KOVAČ, GRAD U ZRCALU: OBITELJSKI NOKTURNO (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Image
Hello readers! Today I will share with you an outfit and a book review for The City In a Mirror , an autobiographical novel by Mirko Kovač.  I cannot imagine life without reading fine literature. I can never get tired of reading. Fashion is another thing I enjoy. I genuinely enjoy putting outfits together. Just thinking of something cute that I might wear lifts my mood. I suppose both literature and fashion are my little joys. It's important to enjoy in little things. In fact, I realized that in life 'little things'  and 'little joys' are not so 'little' at all, rather they are more important than many things that seem more relevant.  When I started this blog, I wanted it to be about things that bring me joy (hence the name of the blog that in Croatian also has elements of a word play- moda oda radosti- fashion, an ode to joy). In life, we sometimes really need to hold onto things that bring us joys. Art is always a great source of inspiration for me. Paint...

VISIT KLIS FORTRESS WITH ME (PLUS AN AMAZING PANORAMA OF SPLIT CITY)

Image
Today I shall take you along with me to one of most inspiring places in vicinity of Split city. Klis Fortress offers one of the best panoramas of Split city and its archipelago. That alone is a reason enough to visit it. I do love a good bird eye view. I read somewhere that being on elevated places is helpful in fighting bad moods and depression. Maybe this doesn't apply to everyone, but I certainly feel better on elevated places, especially those with gorgeous views. I'm the opposite of those people who are afraid of heights and flying, I must have been a bird in my previous life. I love nothing better than a beautiful panorama and this fortress promises just that- an amazingly beautiful panorama.  However, even without the spectacular views the Klis fortress itself would be worth a visit. This beautiful historical fortress has a rich history. As a history lover, I immensely enjoyed it. We visited it back in October, but it took me a while to publish this post because well tra...

THE WORD FOR WORLD IS A FOREST, A NOVELLA BY URSULA K. LE GUIN (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Image
Today I'm back with a review for The Word for World is a Forest   a novella (or a short novel) by Ursula K. Le Guin. I first came across Ursula's writing back in 2013, when I read The Left Hand of Darkness , a novel that blew me away. Since then, I've been on a lookout for other works by Ursula Le Guin and I don't think I'll stop reading her any time soon.  The more I read from this author, the more I love her. I mentioned and quoted Le Guin on my blog at least a couple of times, for example I distinctly remember including two of her books in my IWD reading recommendations  a while back. Fairly recently, I have read two science fiction novels by Le Guin, both from her Hainish circle  and I loved them both.  Today I will share a review for one of those two recent reads. You won't have to wait long for the the other review either.  So far, I've always read Ursula's books in original language but I read these two books in Croatian translation because t...
