How to save money on clothes? Now, I'm not implying that is something you should do. I don't see why someone shouldn't spend money on clothes if that is something that makes them happy. After all, fashion industry employs a lot of people. Moreover, clothes are there for a reason, they are not exactly a luxury. Still. there is no doubt that clothes do more than protect us from the harsh weather conditions. A right outfit can give us that much needed boost of confidence. Fashion can be a wonderful creative outlet. The garments we choose can also help us present ourselves in the best light.  However, a lot of people are trying to cut on their expenses, so that seems like a valid subject to talk about. If you're interested in reading about it, you’ve come to the right place. On the other hand, if your budget is not restricted and you don't need to save money on clothes, feel free to skip the next few paragraphs. Kako uštedjeti na odjeći? Ne mislim vam nametati mi...

Hi there! How NOT to stay fit during Autumn? That should be my topic today because it seems that I'm doing a good job out of it. It turns out that all my talk about enjoying long Autumn walks was just that- only talk. I’ve been planning to spent as much time outdoors as possible (because I truly adore this time of the year), but somehow everything got in my way and I totally forgot about that decision/intention. I don’t think that rain is to blame, even if it didn’t exactly help. It all culminated this afternoon, when I went to buy some bread and I ended up being short of breath. How is it even possible to get out of shape in a few days? Maybe it is this cold I can’t shake of. I’m pretty sure I was in a fine (well decent) shape a few days ago. However, ever since it has started raining, I’ve been spenting even more time than usual reading and studying ( I'm not yet ready to stare what I'm studying, something new for me). Add working on some new exciting drawing projects to...

For the love of reading.....What is so great about The Great Gatsby?

Image
Don't ask me where I got this copy because I made this cover myself. This book 'makeover' is still work in progress btw, but so far I like how my new DIY cover is turning out. I think I might 'make over' all my penguins copies (and I have a large number of them). Today we're talk about The Great Gatsby (in more than 1000 words so if you don't have the ability to read quickly I won't blaim you for skimming or wanting to skip the text altogether and just browse the photographs). If I were to sum up this novel in two sentences, I would rephrase Oscar Wilde's famous 'the only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it' into something like this:  "The best way to yield to temptation is to read great literature. To be seducted by art is not only pardonable, it is one of the greatest life's pleasures." my goodreads review here When people ask me what is so great about The Great Gatsby, I'm almost temp...

Do you like wearing hats? ( fashion illustration of the day)/ Volite li nositi šešire? (modna ilustracija dana)

Image
Today I'm sharing another fashion illustration with you. The medium is, once again, watercolour on paper. Our lovely lady is wearing a hat and a faux fur coat.  Some people claim that the hat is the most noticeable fashion accessory one can wear. On one level this makes sense. We know that human communication is predominately visual. Moreover, reading facial expressions is something we all do. In other words, when we look at a person the first things what we will pay attention to is the face.  Our faces find a fundamental role in communication. We can look at fashion as a form of communication too. I'm not sure would I call the hat the most noticeable fashion accessory, but I would agree that it is one of the most noticeable. I think that everything we wear in the vicinity of our face is something that will draw the eye. So, I would say that scarves, hair decorations, headbands, earrings and necklaces are just as noticeable as hats. When we talk to one another, we're usu...

For the love of reading: Big Girls Don't Cry by Fay Weldon

Image
Big Girls Don't Cry   is my first novel by Fay Weldon. She is an English novelist, esseyist and playwright, born in 1931. Lately I’ve been  reading more works from authors I haven't had read before. I've always been the type to read the complete works of writers I really like, but I still like to be on a lookout for something different. I guess that lately I've been wanting to branch out a little bit. Anyway, this British author was  completely unknown to me, so I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t do any prior research, I decided to wait until I read the novel.  My reading experience was pretty interesting. Let's just say that the novel grew on me....and it might be still going at (growing on me that is) it because I can't stop thinking about it! What do I mean to say?  Oddly enough, when I started reading it, I thought to myself, on noooo here comes the whining (I dislike whining on principle) because that is where the novel seemd to be going (...
