I love painting with oil paints. I don't consider them to be obsolete or old-fashioned. On the contrary, for me oil paints are timeless. They have a special quality to them, a warmness that can't be matched. Sure they take forever to dry, cost a pretty penny, have an intense smell and they are an absolute nightmare to clean, but I love them. Today I'm sharing my favourite oil paintings from this year. All of these paintings are very dear to me. The first one literally took me months to complete. It is a painting of one famous old church in Starigrad that happens to be the oldest city on the island Hvar (see the making of post   here ) and I worked very hard trying to capture that softness sunlight in Dalmatia has. I gave this canvas to friends of mine. Other paintings I selected today are all paintings of women, some inspired by mythological figures, some by real women. Volim slikati uljanim bojama. In this post, I shall review Paradise , a novel by Toni Morrison. First of all, let me start by saying that I have an immense respect for Toni Morrison. Besides being a brilliant novelist, she is a very important activist for African American community and a powerful female role model. I do believe that her work as an advocate for a interpretation of history that is more fair and truthful in the context of African American situation in USA is very important.  Furthermore, I consider Toni Morrison to be an exceptional woman, a remarkable person and a wise soul. Are you a fan of wearing white in Winter? I do. White and beige is a colour combo I simply adore when it comes to home decor. In fashion, I'm also a fan of these two colours. Today I celebrated my name's day quietly because I didn't feel like making a big deal out of it. There was no need for me to bake cakes, because I have pleanty of them left over from Christmas. As many foodies, I'm a decent chef.  Very typical for my zoodiac sign which is Taurus. This is another outfit shot at one of my favourite places in Mostar. I can't believe this year is coming to its end. The leaves on some trees are still green...and most of the leaves didn't fall of yet. Even thought I can slowly but surely feel the chillness in the air, it doesn't feel like Winter. Volite li nositi bijelo zimi? Ja volim. Sometimes art inspires clothes and sometimes clothes inspire art....and life inspires both. I couldn't help matching my new pink heels with purple clothing items but I had to change into startas sneakers right after the photographs were taken because my foot hasn't healed yet. Fortunately these heels are very open at the front, so I can fit into them even when my foot is swollen but as far as walking in them that will have to wait. Merry Christmas if you are celebrating it! Wearing a summer beach dress for a Christmas day? If you live in a warm climate, why not? I've perfected wearing Summer clothes in Winter. Long live the layering. As you may notice, I'm still earth bound (no sky heels for now), that is unable to wear anything but sneakers....and startas sneakers are the best choice because they're light. So, that is another reason why I'm grateful for this warm weather you can see on these photographs. Actually, I'm celebrating Christmas in Mostar (where it is also warm and sunny),  not Split but for now I'm leaving you with images of sunny Split.
