nothing says spring like strawberry cakes Lately strawberry cakes have been on my menu and let me tell you I have baked them in all shapes and sizes. I haven't really followed any recipe but as most of the time improvised. The key is to find good strawberries (there are many recipes online)! (Sadly the ones I have bought yesterday (at the same open market!) are not quite mature yet so I'll have to wait for tomorrow. Besides the strawberry cakes I have also baked chocolate ones and well all kinds (you might have noticed that I have a sweet tooth) . U zadnje vrijeme su mi na jelovniku bili kolači od jagode. Again, another illustration inspired by  Tennessee Williams'  play. Cat on a Hot Thin Roof is one of his better known plays, probably due to the film version that has won so much acclaim. This would be one of the rare cases where I like the book and the movie equally. I'm sure that primarily has to do with the wonderful performance of Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor. The play is actually a lot more open and daring than the movie, that feels to some extent like a censored version, but as I said the suburb acting makes out for it. Rereading the play, I felt more than ever, sympathetic with the Maggie the cat character. Maggie : I'll win, all right. Brick : Win what? What is the victory of a cat on a hot tin roof? Yesterday's illustration was dedicated to a writer who is no longer with us, but whose words are still here.... Today's illustration is again connected with literature.....and it contains a quote from a wonderful and sad play by Tennessee Williams. The green and the orange in the dress symbolize Sicily (in my logic all least), the island that all the characters in the play originate from.  " You love your people but you don't understand them.
