A FEMININE SPRING OUTFIT PROPOSAL WITH STATEMENT ACCESSORIES

How are you doing? Are you wondering about how to create a feminine styling for spring? It's all about layering, I'd say. My outfit proposal of the day is all about keeping it chic and elegant. Here I paired a navy velvet turtleneck with a flared sleeve blouse. That way I was warm enough, but I still got the spring vibes I was looking for. Sometimes a light blazer or a blouse is enough if we layer well (i.e. wear a warm top underneath). Playing with clothes and layers can be a lot of fun, especially for spring. Speaking of spring vibes, I also opted for a striped skirt that fits the navy theme quite well. This spring I'm feeling the navy vibes, what can I say? This time I also remembered to use accessories to break down the dark tone a bit. I wore golden pearl hair pins and statements earrings and I even added a gold belt. I do like the metallic trend. Accessories are a great way to make our look more playful. You know what they say, accessories can make or break an outfit. Spring is a great time to take out your necklaces, earrings, bracelets and all the other accessories. It is easier to style them now that we can shed some layers (and you don't have to worry about your earrings or necklaces getting caught up in your wool scarves- that actually happened to me).
Flared blouse: no name (see how I styled it casually here and here) / Striped mini skirt: Zara/  velvet turtleneck: vintage/ heels: Peko/ Earrings: Zaful (similar)

Nothing is new in this outfit. It's all about shopping one's own closet. One of the things I like about shopping one's own closet is that you get to know how something feels and looks on you. It is easy to play with a clothing item you know well. You can dress for the tricky transitional weather easier if you rely on items you already know. As I said, this outfit was all about balance. I wanted to wear a mini skirt, so to keep warm wore a vintage velvet turtleneck (and I actually wore tights, but I'm not sure can you tell). The accessories aren't new either. I actually had these pearl hair pins for a while, before they became this trendy thing. I like them but I don't wear them often because they will sometimes pull on my hair. The statement earrings were a part of a last summer's collaboration. I like how light they are. Tell me what are your favourite spring accessories? Do you enjoy playing with accessories? Do you find yourself reaching up for accessories more in spring time? What kind of accessory trends are you into? Or do you prefer to keep to your style?

BE A TOURIST IN YOUR OWN TOWN

I'm actually a bit proponent of  'be a tourist in your own town' movement. I currently live in Mostar and I do like to play the tourist here.  You'd be surprised what you can find out if you explore your own city, villager or the area you life in like you were a tourist. Often we aren't aware of our surrounding and what they have to offer. By becoming a tourist in your own city/village, you get to see it with new eyes and thus develop your perception. Moreover, you can learn about the history and the heritage of the place you live in. You might even find new hobbies, learn about new activities or meet new people. Playing a tourist is always good. You don't need to travel to do it.

SAINT PETER AND PAUL CHURCH & MONASTERY

The location for the photographs today is the area around Saint Peter and Paul church and monastery. I already talked about this place, so I might be repeating myself a bit but basically this church and the accompanying monastery are actually relatively new.  This church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul had to be rebuilt completely because the old church dating back to the 19th century was destroyed in the war. Even right now, there are works inside of the church. They've been working on it for years and it has been interesting to see the progress over the years. They're nearly finished now. They painted the ceiling and made mosaics some time around last Christmas and they have been working on it ever since. I think they are going for early Christian style, that's what the colours make me think of.

The exterior is as you can see something completely different, very modern and simplistic. I even heard the church tower being called a wonderful example of an architecture of brutalism, but I'm not sure is that the architects are going for. The architecture of brutalism is usually defined by using bare concrete, but I think that the concrete walls are actually temporary. Since I moved here, they painted the facade of the church and I think they'll so the same with the church tower. As I already said in one of my older posts, the church was rebuild in recent times and now it also includes a large monastery and a church tower. This complex is a very imposing structure with its church tower that stands 107 meters tall and let me tell you that view from 107 meters is quite something.

Thank you for reading and visiting. Have a lovely day!

  3. Navy and gold are so perfect together! They can make an outfit look expensive even when it is not. Your blouse is amazing with those sleeve. My accessories do get neglected since I tend to wear the same ones regularly. I definitely don't follow trends. I like pieces that will not go out of style and can be mixed and matched. Being a tourist is your own town is so much fun! The church is so modern with those clean lines and simple steeple.

  10. Love the sleeves on your jacket, they're tremendous - and of course, shopping your wardrobe. It's comforting when you dress in old friends, isn't it? xxx

  11. Hey dear Ivana, first of all HAPPY WEEKEND, hope you enjoy it :)

I always love how you style different outfits and take us with you through different places to discover nature, art, etc.... Your posts are always full of details to look at.

I love the navy style, maybe I have some stuff in my wardrobe that could take me to those summer days that I'm craving for. And of course I love accessories, for me there are everything... sometimes you feel not that creative while making and outfit but adding some pieces and details can make the difference and upgrade the game to a next level. Personally I always prefer to invest in accessories (such as sunglasses) that can be worn more than one time :)

Loved your clips, the earrings and those sunnies that remind me of the latest Gucci collection!

PS: The church looks lovely, with those clean modern lines unusual for a church at least in Spain haha.

    Best!

  28. I really like the architecture of the monastery/church- it is very striking! Lovely to hear about where you are too!
I love the outfit- it is soo, sooo stylish and very cleverly put together- all the elements balance together so nicely- genius way to hold the jacket in place with the belt- I imagine on me that I would just lose the impact of that jacket with how I chose to wear it. I'd love to see the velvet turtleneck in its own right perhaps paired with metallics!
