Illustrating a Catwalk Look From Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2018 (Fashion illustration of the Day: Watercolour)
Hello there! Today I will share two of my fashion illustrations with you. I illustrated two outfits from Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2018 collection. Both of these designs are predominately yellow and black. I think I see a trend here. If you recall, the last runaway fashion illustration I shared was of a black and yellow dress from Miu Miu collection. Well, if designers like the same colour combo as myself, I'm not complaining. I've always loved yellow, so I'm only happy that it's trending.
The reason why I decided to illustrate two outfits from this Louis Vuitton collection is because the collection impressed me greatly. I must admit that in the past, I didn't really pay that much attention to this brand, but this collection made me see the error of my ways. French design is often beautiful, and this collection is really top notch. As I explain, I always watch the collection I want to illustrate on YouTube, and while I was watching this one, my jaw literally dropped. In addition, I loved the way the models wore the bags the wrong way (upside down). I wonder will it become a trend?
Not only were the designs from this collection absolutely beautiful, I loved the materials used and the contrast between the refined cuts and unorthodox materials. The collection is elegant, but still very eye-catching. I had to google the designer Nicolas Ghesquière (he is a handsome guy, isn't it?) and then I realized- Hey, wait, I know his designs. He is the guy who turned Balenciaga into what it is today. He's that guy who is known for the contrast effect. My kind of guy. Anyhow, a quick search revealed that Nicolas joined Louis Vouitton ages ago (in 2013). Ups, I guess I wasn't paying that much attention. But I'm paying attention now. It's never too late to learn something new, right? I've never claimed that I'm an expert or fashion insider of any kind, I'm just a girl who loves fashion and has managed to keep this blog active for years. Besides, there are a lot of things going on in a fashion world, it's hard to keep track.
If I had time, I would illustrate the entire collection. Seriously, this designer knows what he is doing. Louis Vuitton brand is lucky to have him. This collection is absolutely gorgeous, do have a look at it if you have time. Who knows maybe I will find time and I will illustrate the entire collection? In the meantime, I'm sharing these two illustrations of mine. The medium is watercolour on paper. I'm not sure are they really finished or not. Sometimes it is hard to tell. I might add some finishing touches. My husband (always the critic) said that the legs on the model on the left look like two sticks. I still need to fill in one of the faces. It's possible I will give these two designs another try. I might try to illustrate them in another medium. Either way, I'll keep you posted.
Have you seen this Louis Vuitton collection? If yes, did you like it? What was your favourite collection when it comes to Autumn/Winter 2018 shows? You know with this cold weather and everything, maybe it makes sense to take another look at Autumn/Winter fashion collection. We might get some inspiration that way. Plus, it never hurts to look at pretty clothes. How is the weather wherever you happen to be? Here it is still cold. How do you like these illustrations? I've been doing a lot of fashion illustrating lately. Would you like to see them all? Let me know in the comments. That will be all for today. Have a lovely weekend!
Mnogo lijepe ilustracije!
