Be a tourist in your own hometown/ Budi turist u svom rodnom gradu

I'm a big advocate of the whole 'Be A Tourist In Your Own Hometown' thing...and if there isn't such a movement, there totally should be. If you remember, I blogged about this before, so not to repeat myself you can read this post. If someone told me that I would feel cold  while wearing a puffer in April.... I know, who would have thought? Well, life is full of surprises and I for one am happy that is the way it is (most of the time anyway).

I did feel a bit silly when I saw an old lady in a swimsuit,  right there on the most famous Split's beach but the bays are naturally secured from the chilly wind that I was facing while I explored my hometown on foot. When you are playing a tourist in your own hometown you should dress comfortably (and warmly).

  10. It is fun to rediscover where you live. I like to do it best when showing others around who are not from here. I would be an excellent tour guide :) Very cute shots dear and look how brave you are out in the wild sea on that rock :)P So lovely! xoxo

  11. I couldn't agree more. Whenever I'm on holiday I'm obviously super motivated to explore my destination as intensely as possible, because I'll be gone again soon enough. That feeling doesn't exist at home, so the motivation to become a tourist is much lower. It's a shame though. It's so mch fun to discover new things that are just around the corner :)

  16. Hi Ivana,

I'm a strong advocate for being a tourist in your own country too! In fact, I also do visit forgotten places and feel like there's just so much to do in my hometown. I'm glad you're like that too.

It's ok wearing a puffer in April. There are some areas that are still so cold in Spring.

    RYC:
Yeah. I think butter is healthier than margarine and more delicious too. OMG! You tried duck! I remember you telling me you haven't eaten ducks as you often see them swimming around the river looking so cute. How did you find the duck? Since you had it at a Chinese restaurant, I would assume that's roasted duck?

  21. Dear Ivana, I'm also constantly still wearing at the puffy jackets - at least in the evening :) But I know: we are here in Bavaria and not in Split! Thank you for the beautiful pictures of your obviously wonderful town! And you look also fresh and wonderful on the pictures, I have the opinion I can see it makes you so happy to be in Split! Wish you a good new week.

  22. Bathing suit in the cold? Man, she is one very brave lady :). I am just like you. Cold is cold and i am wearing as many layers or the warmest jacket around to stay warm. I explore my hometown and not even my hometown. I just love discovering new things and places very day, regardless of how big deal or small deal it is :).
Anyway you look easy going and happy in this look. It is such a practical look and i think your scarf is super cute. You look great!

  34. It seems that everywhere is unseasonably chilly right now (I've just spent a week in southern Turkey - cold wind there too!)
I do so agree about the joys of being a tourist in ones own back yard. I feel I'm only just beginning to experience many of the less frequented parts of Oxford. And as for my home village and surrounding area, even though I lived there for 18 years there is SO much left to explore and get acquainted with.

  39. I'm a big fan of playing tourist in your hometown as well. I had to laugh when you mentioned the old lady in the swimming suit when it's still so cold. At least you have an actual beach in Split. We don't have any beaches in NYC and people will go to to sunbathe in their bathing suits and sometimes even less and yes sometimes when it isn't even that warm. I've seen some really inappropriate things O_o
