A prom dress
I remember my prom quite well, despite the fact that it was a decade ago (literally a decade). The way prom was organized in my school and in most of the high schools here is that we would chose one of our classmates to be our 'date.' Boys being more numerous than girls in my high school, they would usually end up with two dates. Well, I always thought it was silly that people must have a date to go to a prom. That's why I'm happy that where I'm from we don't really do that 'date' thing. A date is just a friend you walk into the ballroom with and once the prom is over at about 2 or 3 am, we all go clubbing together. All in all, my prom night was a quite pleasant evening and I remember it fondly. Being very pleased with the dress I wore certainly made the night more enjoyable.
My dress was long and I felt very glamours in it. I think that the question that most girls ask themselves is what length should their prom dress be. What colour is also a frequent dilemma. I don't think there is a right answer to that question. What is important is that you feel special in that dress. That is the criteria that any dress for any formal occasion should fit. Today there are so many fantastic options out there that we are almost spoiled for choice. I remember that I gave my prom dress to a cousin of mine because I knew that she hates shopping and trying on clothes and it fit her perfectly. However, nowadays she would probably just order the dress online.
When I was contacted by PromTimes, I decided to chose a few favourites. I will explain why these dresses were the ones that caught my eye the most.

This little dress is simply divine. Because of the lace and the detailing it looks so glamours. I would say that a dress like this one would be perfect if you don't want a gown. The open back is always very attractive ( even if it requires a special bra if you are a size C or bigger). I can't decide do I like this dress better from front or from the back. I imagine any girl wearing it would feel like a modern princess. LBD is a classic, but for your prom night, you might want to jazz things up a little by something like this one.
No.2.
This gorgeous white dress I selected because it reminds me of my own wedding dress. My wedding dress was actually not a real wedding dress. I saw it by accident in a a random store and had to buy it right away because both me my husband liked it. Back to this dress and why I like it. I think this cut of the dress is very flattering. White is always a good choice and the silver detail is a nice touch. In my wedding dress I felt like I was walking on clouds, it was the most comfortable dress I ever wore. That's why I would consider wearing something like this one. You might end up feeling like a Greek Goddess and that's not a bad feeling at all.

This beautiful long sleeve dress is stunningly beautiful. Lace is always a very chic choice. I remember I was ecstatic with joy when I managed to find a dress with lace sleeves for my first communion. Back at the day, our first communion dresses were sewn by nuns and we would just borrow them for the day, so finding the one you like in the sea of similarly looking ones was tricky. The long lace sleeves on this dress are very feminine. Yellow is a very trendy colour right now...and wearing yellow you certainly won't go unnoticed. The open back adds a bit of subtle sensuality. So, that is why I really like this one.
What do you think about my selection? Which dress do you like the most?
Great post:) kisses
DeleteThe first dress is my favorite. I just really like the color of it and think that for a short dress is looks very classy. I remember my prom also and remember my rented tuxedo that fit really bad :D Always good to have those fun memories

Nice choice! My favourite is the yellow one. Actually, I like the whole look, including the circlet of flowers on the head. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI don't really remember my prom quite well, as you do, but I still remember my dress. It was horrible, I have no idea why I bought it for this event. Nowadays, there are so many options, such a wide range of choice of gowns! I'm really sorry that when I was a school leaver I didn't have an opportunity to buy something like this. Those dresses are so gorgeous! The last yellow one is so lovely, it's my personal favourite too! It's incredibly delicate and feminine.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing, Ivana! I enjoyed the post a lot!
By the way, do you have any photographs from your prom?
Deleteyes, I have some...I'll probably publish them one day.

Amazing amazing dresses, am crazy for the yellow one at the bottom, I would definitely wear that. My prom was fun, although I didn't have a date, haha. I went with friends as I was a bit of an 'ugly duckling' so to speak. But, it was a great time. Am back on my blog tomorrow, I hope your weekend was bliss my dear xx

Your choices are all lovely and I bet you were really pretty in your prom dress too. For some reason the yellow dress has me thinking of Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I think it's the color. It's a stunning dress for sure.

I didn't have a prom, but if I did, my dress would definitely be something like that first one :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see yours, that you wore "literally a decade ago" :)
You picked wonderful dresses! I don't like that yellow shade, but the dress itself is only gorgeous! I also remember my prom night quite fondly, but we didn't have to pick any dates. We danced Waltz with our parents, it was a good night.

I have always thought that prom was a US tradition, we don't have it in Malaysia. I love the second dress the most, it looks like a Greek goddess and just so elegant. You got good taste, Ivana, you choose some really gorgeous dresses to be featured here.

Baš su lijepe haljine. najviše mi se sviđa žuta.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like my prom dress during junior prom and what I can say about my senior prom dress was just meh. :( The dress in my senior should've been big like what Disney princesses wear because that's the theme of our prom but my parents decided to buy me any dress instead. LMAO. It looks okay, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI like all the dresses, especially the first one. Although the yellow one is the second one I would choose. xx

Gorgeous dresses, the last one is marvelous ;)
ReplyDeleteas my school time was over, we´ve never had a prom - this is almost 25 years ago. we received our certificates on a ceremony in a big festival room (not a ballroom!!!!) - that´s all. after this celebrates every student just with his family - there was no big party like we know this from US movies.
ReplyDeleteanyway. at this time i was not a crossdresser and had not really interest on female clothes. but time has changed and now i think on the "female way"...;-)
your here showing dresses no.2 and 3 are for me way over the top for a prom. this dresses looks really great, but there looking almost like wedding dresses.
no. 1 is a really beauty (i mean the dress...!!!) but i think this is way to short. How many parents would allow their daughter to wear this?
i take a look on google for "prom dress" and gosh i see really sexy ones and very glamourous. i never had an idea which i would choose. i think my fav were this one: http://bestlaptopphoto.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/all-black-long-prom-dresses-hm8qcwggq.jpg
i like this post from you a lot!!!
yes, you're right...the first dress is too short considering that it is also A cut (wide ) but I think with tights maybe it is would be ok.
DeleteToday where I'm from many girls wear the kind of dresses for their proom, like the ones I showed here...very glam long dresses, almost like wedding dressses.
"Today where I'm from many girls wear the kind of dresses for their proom, like the ones I showed here...very glam long dresses, almost like wedding dressses." - really? oh oh, i think i´m getting old...;-)
