Painting and outfit of the day / Slika i odjevna kombinacija dana

Inari (a painting/slika)

Painting of Inari/ Slika Inari

Oil paints on paper/ Uljane boje na papiru

I don't always paint on canvas. Sometimes I'm feeling inspired and obviously the art shop isn't open at midnight so I just grab whatever comes in handy ( a piece of wood, paper, cardboard... whatever) because paintings sometimes have a life of their own and are very impatient to come into this world. They don't care if I have time or energy, they want to come to life  as soon as possible.

There is no  correlation between this painting and the outfit but I'm posting them together because it is convenient for me to do so, it gives me an illusion of having some kind of rhythm in my blog's life.

As for the painting itself, it represent Inari. Usually I'm inspired by Slavic mythology, but this time it's Japanese mythology. Inari is the only character from it that I've attempted to draw or paint so far, but I've been coming back to this subject for years. I guess I'm kind of under her spell and I do imagine this kami as a she...foxy lady.

Obično me nadahnjuje slavenska mitologija, no ovaj put to je Japanska.

Funny how the rain isn't visible on these photographs, but I assure you it was there. I wore this outfit last Monday and planned to join in Share in Style with it . As  I wasn't at all happy with the photos, I decided to post some old (and sunny) ones instead. I guess I just had enough of rain at that point. On the contrary, today rain doesn't bother me at all. I'm feeling quite optimistic and energized and as far as I'm concern it can rain cats and dogs all day. On second thought, this pink and blue combo looks quite cute so here it is--- I'm finishing this week with the look I started this week with....and really looking forward to the weekend.

  7. It's raining cats and dogs where I live too, Ivana and have been raining for days now. Yesterday there was a break in the weather and the sun peek its head a little so we went shopping. I wore plain thin white shirt and after an hour in the mall, we came out to rain, AGAIN! I had no umbrella, no coat so had to run to the car without any. By the time I arrived the car, I look like I just came out from a wet t-shirt contest....horrible really. LOL!

  8. Thank you for all your lovely comments on my blog, Ivana. I am looking forward to exploring yours now. I love the self portrait and particularly like the feeling of movement in the paint. I also love your outfit and think the coat is so pretty. I would love a coat in that colour as I always end up with dark coats for the dark season. It is raining cats and dogs and buffalo here. I can relate.

    1. thank you Shawna...I do recommend getting at least one light coat. If I wasn't on the budget, I would get one in every colour but for now this baby blue one will do.

  10. Such a beautiful painting! Her expression is lovely. I feel the same about paintings having a life of their own, regardless if it's a convenient time for me! I love your outfit too. I wish I could look that stylish on a rainy day. Usually when it's raining here, the wind is also blowing, so often my umbrella turns inside out and I get drenched! LOL Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way about paintings.

Here we also have our rainy plus windy days, in fact if you look carefully you'll see that my lovely umbrella is already damaged because it got turned inside out too many times:)

Sometimes I feel similarly about poems - being impatient for me to find time to sit down and write them.

  25. I understand what you mean about doing art whenever it hits you. Sometimes I get an idea for a poem sometime when I cannot write the whole thing and I will email it to myself or write it on a piece of paper to remind me later. Great art is impatient :) Very lovely painting! xoxo
