Painting of the day (Madonna, watercolour on paper)


Today just a quick post, sharing my art. The medium is watercolour on paper. I'm not sure how I feel about this painting. I have a feeling like something is missing but I can't quite figure out what. I will probably have to work on this idea a bit more.  Maybe I need to add a background? Lately I've been finding inspiration in classical paintings more than anything, mostly in the work of sixteen century painters. It is amazing how accomplished they were. I do honestly feel we have a lot to learn from the classics.

 I took part in another art course (my third one) last year and perhaps I will prepare a post about it one of these days. As soon as the new art course starts (this February), I will probably sign in again. I feel very comfortable using oil and acrylic paints, but I need to work more on my watercolour skills. Aquarelle is a painting method I still need to work on. In many ways this medium is quite unique, and I need to learn more about the technicalities, the paper types, the various paints and so on.  I'm aware I still have a long way to go with this medium but as they say practice makes perfect.     She is beautiful, Ivana! I also love classical art, it amazes me what those artists were capable of! We are so getting used to fast pace of life that we don't cherish the moment in time, the meditation of such things as making art, home-made cooking, and so on... we as humanity at this stage, I mean. Obviously, you as a person take your time to learn and enjoy your new skills! And with time and practice, you will be able to accomplish more and more. Much love!

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! TRAVEL WITH MY ART #39- STJEPAN FORTRESS BLAGAJ (BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA)

Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers! In this post, I'll share another destination painting of mine. You know what that means- it's time for another TRAVEL WITH MY ART post! Today I'm taking you to Herzeg Stjepan Kosaca fortress. This stunning historical fortress overlooking Blagaj in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a sight to behold. Trying to capture its magical beauty in a painting was a challenge!  The medium for this painting is acrylic paints on cotton canvas. The painting process was actually quite long and tedious. I've worked on this painting since Autumn and I only finished it towards the end of Summer. I rushed the painting towards the end, because I wanted to participate in the joint artist exhibition. There was a submission deadline to meet, so I submitted this canvas not feeling confident it's actually finished.
