Painting (and outfit) of the day/ Slika i odjevna kombinacija dana

Samilosne oči / Merciful eyes

new painting/ nova slika

I can't say that I have a preferred medium when it comes to painting. However, I must disagree with those that say that acrylic paints are just like oil paints just a modern version. Nothing is like oil paints. I like painting with both acrylic and oils, but there is clearly a difference. I'm not saying one paints are better than others, for some paintings acrylics may be more suitable than oils. Furthermore, I have quite a few acrylic paintings that I hold dear.

The need to write this might be just my reaction to acrylic paints being advertised as the new oil paints. I feel that oil paints have a special kind of warmth to them and that's why I'm somewhat saddened by the fact they're not widely used. I would hate it if the only reason was just because somebody convinced them it is reserved only for professional painters. Sure, oil paints are more expensive, smelly and take forever to dry. Yet, how can they reveal their magic to you unless you try them.  Now, about the outfit....

Despite the fact these photograph were taken only a few days ago, I have hard times recognizing myself. Do I really look this pale? Why does my head looks so small? At least I know what is wrong  with my eyes...it doesn't help that I have no make up on besides the lip-gloss but the main problems is that I'm as blind as a bat without sunglasses.  I have great eyesight, as long as the sun is not as strong as it was this day. Why do I always have to face the sun directly? Well, what the heck, at least my hair looks great. I'm publishing these photos.

The outfit is nothing special, beige with pink touches. I do like these pants a lot and have been wearing them regularly ever since I bough them. They're a size or even two big, but that makes them very comfy. Now, with all this bell bottom talk, I can finally look as if I'm actually following trends. What do you think about this outfit?...and congratulations if you had the patience to read all of this.

  10. Thanks for your congratulations, dear Ivana, I read every sentence - at least in English as unfortunately I'm not able to read and understand your language :) Interesting what you think about acryle and oil painting. I have to admit that I never tried oil paining (besides "Paint corresponding numbers" - this means each field has a number where you have to fill in the corresponding colour, we did this when we where children) but sometimes with acryle. And you shouldn't be so critical with you! You are a true beauty and your visible intelligence makes you even more beautiful. I understand that you like your pants, they are really cool, especially due to the reason that they are a bit too big. Ah, and not to forget, as usual I like your painting!

    1. I love watercolor paints as well. What I was trying to say that no medium is better than another, but that I would love to see more people giving oils a try. I'm no professional myself and I experiment all the time with different art styles and I recommend the same to others.

    1. I don't always paint on canvas. Sometimes I used whatever comes in handy. They are pretty expensive here as well. Watercolours are another great medium, I use them myself often especially for illustrations.

Slavs are usually tall, so where I'm from I don't stand out at all. I have many girlfriends who are quite taller than me.

  32. I think you look very cute, and not pale or small headed. I too need sunglasses year round and would be all squinty without them. Your thoughts on oil paints are interesting. I have not tried them, mainly because ease of use and clean up is important to me and also because I tend to be very sensitive to chemical odours. I am also not sure if I would like the slower process involved due to waiting for the paint to dry. But I agree with you that acrylics are not the new oils. I do not think they look the same and as someone who tends to loathe plastic I find it bothers me that I am painting with liquid plastic. I sometimes wonder if I should return to more watercolour use, but I like a certain opacity I don't get with water colours.

    1. that is what I was trying to say...every medium has its advantages. I love painting with watercolors when I illustrate other bloggers or even when I need to create something more ethereal....for angels I often use acrylics and I love to use them when I need the pain to dry quicker so I can achieve a certain effect...but for some paintings I really need my oils (even if my house smells like a chemical factory afterwards).

  33. Hello, we know each other from lookbook. But today, I had time to read your blog. It´s absolutely fascinating in what different worlds we both live. I like it very much how you see the little things and how you think about it (for example butterflies...) when noone´s looking at me, I take worms from the street while it´s raining to put them in the grass. I think, you´re the only person who can understand that! Lots of greetings from germany (exactly on the border to france), Nessy (happinessygirls.com)
