SIX OF CROWS BY LEIGH BARDUGO, A DETAILED BOOK REVIEW

  Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers. In this post, I shall review Six of Crows , a fantasy novel by Leigh Bardugo . Published in 2015,  it is set two years after events described in   Ruin and Raising (that is the final novel in the Shadow & Bone Trilogy ). Six of Crows is a duology, meaning that it has a sequel, but first things first.  So, I've read Six of Crows . Was it worth the hype? Yes, it most definitely was. Compared with the Shadow & Bone trilogy, the writing is smoother. On overall, Six of Crows duology is noticeably more polished when it comes to writing than the Shadow &Bone trilogy. The plot in Six of Crows feels more connected and organized, and every detail seems to fit perfectly. The writing is noticeable better in this duology than it was in the Shadow & Bone trilogy .   It was not what I expected, though. You might say that I had pretty high expectations for this novel. BLOOD OF ELVES, A NOVEL BY ANDRZEJ SAPKOWSKI, WITCHER #3 (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

 Hello. In this post, I shall review Blood of Elves , the third book  and the first novel in the Witcher saga.  The first two books in the Witcher saga are collection of short stories. So, Blood of Elves is actually the first novel in the series.  As I explained in my last post, I was a bit surprised to find out that  Sword of Destiny  was a short story collection (for some reason I thought it was a novel), but I was taken by it  immediately. Soon enough, I found myself enjoying the short story format. I must say, I ended up falling in love with the book (    SWORD OF DESTINY BY ANDRZEJ SAPKOWSKI , THE WITCHER SERIES #2 ) .   Nevertheless, I was really curious to read the first novel. Again, I took to it right away. Once I started reading Blood of Elves, I immediately felt drawn into the story. If I was a shoppingholic I would say : 'I was so happy when I bought this tote bag, I mean isn't this inscription so adorable?'. However, since I'm a DIYaholic, I must say: 'I was so happy when I hand painted this old tote bag. Isn't this incription I made so adorable?'. Hm, now that I think about it, there is a certain similiarity between a shopaholic and a DIYaholic. We're both passionate about things and we invest a certain amount of time in getting what we want. To each its own as they say, so far I prefer DIY, but there are certainly advantages to shopping, like not having to spend half a day cleaning your house after all your DIY projects. With summer being in full spring, I caught myself thinking about iconic summer outfits. Do you know what came to my mind? Costumes/outfits worn by Monica Bellucci when she played Malena Scordia in an iconic Italian movie set on Sicily.   The costumes for that movie were designed by an acclaimed Italian costume designer Maurizio Millenotti and he outdone himself! Seeing that Malena is a historical movie, Maurizio choose quite timeless outfits and cuts that will ever go out of style. That fact makes Malena movie the perfect place to look for inspiration! Moreover, I feel that Monica Bellucci's personal style is quite similar to Malena's (i.e. to the style of the character she is playing).  There is definitely a Mediterranean lady feel about Malena/Monica Bellucci. Yesterday morning a package from CNDirect arrived. I ordered and received this coat , this striped cardigan/jacket  and this blouse . I was impatient to try the coat on, but it was too warm during the day so I had to wait until evening hence the second set of photographs is a bit blurry. I wore the striped jacket over a dress in the morning and in the evening I styled the coat and the blouse I received in another outfit. What do you think about my outfits? Have I styled them well? THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. SEASON OF STORMS BY ANDRZEJ SAPKOWSKI (#8 WITCHER BOOK REVIEW)

In this post, I shall review  Season of Storms, a dark fantasy novel by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. Set between the stories in the first Witcher book (that is the collection of short stories titled The Last Wish ) ,  this novel is the sixth novel and the eight overall novel in the Witcher saga. Even if as a prequel Season of Storms was never indented to be the ending novel of the saga, it was still regarded as the last book for quite some time. Let me explain that. Published in 2013,   Season of Storms  had the status of the last published novel in the saga for a decade. It lost that status last year (in 2024), when Crosswords of Ravens was published.  Crosswords of Ravens is a prequel to both the Witcher saga and to  Season of Storm, so neither of these novels changes anything in the chronological sense, but the addition of another novel means something, does it not?
