Split trough my eyes (photography post)---Split mojim očima (fotografije)

Konačno sam bila u Splitu, dan je bio savršen, sunčan i topao...a ja nemam uz sebe fotoaparat. Okrutni, okrutni živote! Morao je poslužiti prastari moj, koji valjda ima manje piksela od moga mobitela (ali ja ne znam prebacivati slike sa mobitela)...čudi me da više i radi.












Some of the pics I have taken yesterday, and like today it was a very sunny and warm day in Split.  You could hardly guess it is this time of year, the winter being almost here. It's surreal feeling walking by the sea, some people are in speedos (the brave ones or the athletic ones) and some in long coats (like myself). I didn't have my best cam with me, but the day was so lovely I had to take photos.

    I was reading about your city in Wikipedia, and I didn't know that its so big and ancient! It also looks gorgeous on your photographs, the architecture is just wonderful)
    I love such sunny weather and when I'm going out I always try to take a camera with me)

    Vidim imala si sreće bio je divan sunčan dan. I šta pričaš za fotke, odnosno za stari fotić, pa većina fotki se ne bi posramila da završi na razglednicama ;)

Warmth is important / Toplina je važna

What can I say about today's outfit? Paring jeggings with a sweater dress (or if you wish you can also call it a long sweater) is no brainer. Doc martens are always a good choice and often I like to wear them like this, with socks rolled up over the boots. If the socks in question are wool ones, then one is pretty sure that his or her feet will be extremely warm. This beanie is also made from wool and what makes it very special is the fact that my grandmother made it for me. Wool is great because it helps us stay warm. Cold lowers our immunity (i.e. makes us immune system more vulnerable), so it is important to stay warm during Winter. To finish this look, I opted for this lovely necklace ( here ) and this elegant bag because I like how they create a contrast with this otherwise grunge outfit.  Što mogu reći o današnjoj kombinaciji. THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. I needed to emotionally process the story.   The Island of Missing Trees is   set in London and Cyprus. A BUILDER OF AN INN/ GRADITELJ SVRATIŠTA BY IVAN ARALICA (A BOOK REVIEW)

 Hello, there! Another day, another reading recommendation. Today I'd like to recommend a historical novel by Croatian author Ivan Aralica Ivan Aralica . The title could be translated as The Builder of an Inn. The novel is set during Napoleon wars. More precisely, the novel takes places during the French occupation of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The author is extremely knowledgeable about this period and exceptionally gifted at recreating past times. However, this novel is more focused on the psychological exploration of its main characters than on historical events or politics.  I would dare to say this is the case with most (if not all) of Aralica's novels. Aralica is an author who focuses on the fates of 'common' people during turbulent historical times. Ivan Aralica's writing is more on the deep and philosophical side. If I was a shoppingholic I would say : 'I was so happy when I bought this tote bag, I mean isn't this inscription so adorable?'. However, since I'm a DIYaholic, I must say: 'I was so happy when I hand painted this old tote bag. Isn't this incription I made so adorable?'. Hm, now that I think about it, there is a certain similiarity between a shopaholic and a DIYaholic. We're both passionate about things and we invest a certain amount of time in getting what we want. To each its own as they say, so far I prefer DIY, but there are certainly advantages to shopping, like not having to spend half a day cleaning your house after all your DIY projects. A few days ago a package from wholesalebuying arrived. This was my second collaboration with this site and so far so good. Check out their top sellers  here . This time I ordered this pair of heels. I've been eyeing them for a while now. I'm really happy I ordered them because they look even better than on the site. I'm only sorry that my foot is still swollen, so I wasn't able to take them for a proper walk. Instead of that, I just took some photographs indoors. GREAT ESSAYS IN SCIENCE BY MARTIN GARDNER (BOOK REVIEW) AND SPLIT CITY

Hello, in this post, I'll share my review for a book of essays and two outfits I wore recently in Split city, Croatia. As you all might know, Split is my home city, but for a quite some time now, I have lived between two cities: Split and Mostar. Anyway, I did some vintage shopping in Split, buying both books and clothes. So, you can expect more vintage book reviews and outfits coming!  The book of essays in question is titled Great Essays in Science and edited by Martin Gardner. It contains 30 scientific essays on different topics. Most of the essays are still relevant and quite interesting. Honestly, I found only a few of them a bit dated and only one was tiresome. All the rest were quite fascinating, even those that felt a bit dated. So, I'm really happy I got this book. I'm sure I'll be rereading this collection of essays. Two dresses in vintage style/ Dvije haljine u vintage stilu

It was raining when these photographs were taken and the weather was rather gloomy, but I didn't mind. Can you guess why? Recently I've talked about my love for patterns and prints. Well, I'm feeling quite happy right now because I received two dresses from dresslink. Both of them are exactly my cup of tea. It feels so nice to slip into a cute dress. It always make me feel more feminine and lady like. That would be all for today.
