black and white world /crno-bijeli svijet

This geisha is a detail from a painting of mine. I find Asian style very inspiring, if I can even say "Asian style" because  Asian culture encompass a multitude of various styles but I hope you know what I mean. Generally speaking I have always been attracted to the east. Designers as well have often searched for inspiration in the east.
On other note, today I'm sharing some black and white photographs. Black and white are colours that go well with everything and especially so one with another. This evening it is bw that inspires me.
 
 There's something really appealing about the simplicity of black-and-white images.

    wow...these are such great pictures...i always think black and white gives so much depth to the picture..There is always this innate mystery and wonder of what the pic would have been in real color...loving all the pictures! Great post!

My outfit proposal of the day is a casual one. Hello, how are you doing? Today we're reviewing a non fiction book-  The Shaping of the Modern Mind . Book reviews and recommendations are an essential aspect of my blog, but usually my reading choices lean towards fiction, mostly fine literature.  However, today I'll be reviewing a book that could be labelled as an academical reading belonging to humanities. As someone who studied literature, this is right up my alley. The book is academical, but it's not hard to follow. Moreover, it's not very long either. It's not a comprehensive survey of modern thought, but it's an useful guidebook. This was also my first book by this author. I think I'll try and read more of him in the future. POST UPDATE 2024  FRIDAY FASHION ILLUSTRATION: FANTASY Let's TALK illustration.  Sometimes I illustrate items that I actually wear. With summer being in full spring, I caught myself thinking about iconic summer outfits. Do you know what came to my mind? Costumes/outfits worn by Monica Belluci when she played Malena Scordia in an iconic Italian movie set on Sicily.  The costumes for that movie were designed by an acclaimed Italian costume designer Maurizio Millenotti and he outdone himself! Seeing that Malena is a historical movie, Maurizio choose quite timeless outfits and cuts that will ever go out of style. That fact makes Malena movie the perfect place to look for inspiration! Charlotte Perkins Gilman, The Yellow Wallpaper (book recommendation/preporuka knjiga)

Today just one quick reading recommendation. The Yellow Wallpape r is a short story by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. It was published in 1899 (as you can see on these photographs). Here is a link to a pdf version of this text. The author's right are expired, so feel free to pass it around- it is one of advantages of reading classics:). I do consider this short story to be a classic. It tells a story of a woman who is recovering from post natal depression and is confined to her room. It is considered to one of the earliest works of American feminist literature. In its time it was a very important and ground breaking work because it shed more light on mistreatment of depression in woman (and in many ways it is still relevant), but I think that even if we put all of that aside, it is still a  great story.  Hello! In this post, I'll take you back to Split city to share a book review and an outfit post. I'll review a book that made be both cry and laugh. You could say I believe in fate. Never has fate seemed more obvious to me than when it comes to books. So many times in my life has a book arrived at the right time! Every time that happened, I would wonder: 'What are the odds of that?'  There's a whole story behind how I bought this  book, and I will share a more detailed account soon. Until then, I'll give you a short version. I googled events in Split city and saw there was a promotion at Split city library. I have to say this was the best book promotion I have ever attended for a number of reasons. I'll get back to them as I don't have time to go in detail right now. Les Miserables (outfit post+ book recommendation/ odjevna objava+ preporuka knjige)

I honestly don't remember when I enjoyed a novel as much as Les Miserable s by Victor Hugo and that, taken the fact that literature is a huge part of my life, is saying a lot. I loved absolutely everything about it, not just the characters and the story but also those parts that were historical and philosophical. This is a true classic and I good reminder to myself why it is always a good idea to get back to the classics. Now, about the outfit. Cat ears that I'm wearing started out as a necklace, worked part time as a belt and a bracelet, but you know how it is with jewellery I make, I always find new uses for it. Sometimes I think about the different function in the process of designing my pieces, but sometimes I get ideas as time goes up. This necklace I'm wearing is also my creation.
