Summer hats...they seem to be the appropriate topic for the first day of summer. I start to wear them as early as April...What do you think about them? Do you wear them? I plan to buy a few more as I find them to be very practical.
All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism.
Hello! In this post, I'll take you back to Split city to share a book review and an outfit post. I'll review a book that made be both cry and laugh. You could say I believe in fate. Never has fate seemed more obvious to me than when it comes to books. So many times in my life has a book arrived at the right time! Every time that happened, I would wonder: 'What are the odds of that?' There's a whole story behind how I bought this book, and I will share a more detailed account soon. Until then, I'll give you a short version. I googled events in Split city and saw there was a promotion at Split city library. I have to say this was the best book promotion I have ever attended for a number of reasons. I'll get back to them as I don't have time to go in detail right now. I'm literally typing this on my cellphone, sitting in a café in Split city. What kind of novel is this? Written in Dalmatian dialect, an autobiographical novel by Croatian author Venera
POST UPDATE 2024 FRIDAY FASHION ILLUSTRATION: FANTASY Let's TALK illustration. Sometimes I illustrate items that I actually wear. Sometimes I illustrate my own outfits. Sometimes I illustrate other bloggers. I HAVE ILLUSTRATED THIS LEATHER JACKET TWICE! HERE & HERE Browsing my archives I realized that I have illustrated this leather jacket at least twice before. Moreover, counting the post today I have illustrated this pair of high brown boots four times! Is it me or am I starting to wear the items I have illustrated more often? Do you think that's possible? Perhaps illustrating them creates a sort of visual fashion memento in my head. SHOULD YOU USE A REFERENCE WHEN PRACTICING FASHION ILLUSTRATION? Is reference important? Should I drew with a reference or from imagination? My answer would be that you should do both. When I wrote about ten ways to improve your fashion illustration skills, both drawing with and without reference made my list of tips. I said that
With summer being in full spring, I caught myself thinking about iconic summer outfits. Do you know what came to my mind? Costumes/outfits worn by Monica Belluci when she played Malena Scordia in an iconic Italian movie set on Sicily. The costumes for that movie were designed by an acclaimed Italian costume designer Maurizio Millenotti and he outdone himself! Seeing that Malena is a historical movie, Maurizio choose quite timeless outfits and cuts that will ever go out of style. That fact makes Malena movie the perfect place to look for inspiration! Moreover, I feel that Monica Belluci's personal style is quite similar to Malena's (i.e. to the style of the character she is playing). There is definitely a Mediterranean lady feel about Malena/Monica Bellucci. What says summer better than Mediterranean and Sicily? Today we'll analyze Malena's style and see what we can learn from her. There is much to learn! Having analyzed looks that Monica wore in iconic Malena film, I&
I honestly don't remember when I enjoyed a novel as much as Les Miserable s by Victor Hugo and that, taken the fact that literature is a huge part of my life, is saying a lot. I loved absolutely everything about it, not just the characters and the story but also those parts that were historical and philosophical. This is a true classic and I good reminder to myself why it is always a good idea to get back to the classics. Now, about the outfit. Cat ears that I'm wearing started out as a necklace, worked part time as a belt and a bracelet, but you know how it is with jewellery I make, I always find new uses for it. Sometimes I think about the different function in the process of designing my pieces, but sometimes I get ideas as time goes up. This necklace I'm wearing is also my creation.
Home on the road Dom na cesti I lay in the dirt next to the road Ležah u prašini kraj ceste Neither I saw his face Niti ja vidim lice njegovo nor he saw mine. niti on vidje lice moje. The stars came down and the air was blue Zvijezde sišle su i zrak bijaše plav Neither I saw his hands Niti vidjeh ruke njegove nor he saw mine. niti on vidje moje. The East became as green as a lemon. Istok postane zelen kao limun. Because of one bird, I open my eyes. Zbog jedne ptice otvorim oči. Then I found out whom I have loved Tada doznah ko
I don't usually take a lot of photos with my smartphone, because the quality is not that great but looking back at photos taken these two last months, there are some that I'd like to share.... Today just one quick reading recommendation. The Yellow Wallpape r is a short story by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. It was published in 1899 (as you can see on these photographs). Here is a link to a pdf version of this text. The author's right are expired, so feel free to pass it around- it is one of advantages of reading classics:). I do consider this short story to be a classic. It tells a story of a woman who is recovering from post natal depression and is confined to her room. It is considered to one of the earliest works of American feminist literature. In its time it was a very important and ground breaking work because it shed more light on mistreatment of depression in woman (and in many ways it is still relevant), but I think that even if we put all of that aside, it is still a great story. Even without its important historical context, the story is strong enough to stand on its own. In reality, it is a well written and touching short story. Moreover, I would say that this
I promised to show you another way to style this white off shoulder dress /tunics, haven't I? I already wore it with white jeans, and today I'm going to show you how to wear it with a red floral skirt. This vintage floral skirt comes from a matching set (I'll show you more photographs bellow). If you own a matching set, there is no need to limit yourself to wearing it in the same way. You can always mix and match. For example, in the outfit you can see bellow, the floral details on the off shoulder dress/blouse match really well with the floral details on the skirt. It's a different floral print, but it looks nice worn together. At least I think so! White and red is always a winning combo if you ask me. There is something about the combination of those two colours that is always eye-catching. Throw in some blue and caramel details and I'm happy as I can be. I guess I'm just a girl who loves colours. Off Shoulder Dress: here , skirt: vintage, bag: purchase
Zavala was love at first sight. I can still see its beautiful beaches and crystal clear sea when I close my eyes. Such a serene place to be! I visited Zavala about two months ago (in April) when we finally managed to find some time for a short visit. I have never visited prior to that day, despite having roots on the island. However, since I'm currently living on island Hvar, I really have no excuse to miss out on exploring Zavala. Zavala je bila ljubav na prvi pogled. Još uvijek mogu vidjeti njene prekrasne plaže i kristalno more kada zatvorim oči. You can get to Zavala from Jelsa in no time. The road is a bit challenging and narrow at times (often the case
