Inari (my illustration)






Today I'm sharing a few of my illustrations with you. This is Inari, Japanese goddes (or  kami) of foxes, prosperity, agriculture, rice and  cunning. Sometimes represented as a women, sometimes man and sometimes as a fox, I find it fascinating and I have attempted to draw her (or him) many times.

 Hello! In this post, we shall explore, Valletta, a city of incredibly rich history. Besides it being the capital of Malta, Valletta is one of the most concentrated historical sites in the world. Simply a dream place for a historical lover like myself. Apart from being a historical landmark like no other, Valletta is simply amazingly beautiful.  VALLETTA! I'm back with another post from Malta! In this post, I'll share more hiking tales from the stunningly gorgeous island Malta. No wonder I loved my stay there so much.  How lucky was I! Not only did I get to visit this utterly gorgeous island, I also got to hike it for hours. Moreover, during my hikes, I felt like I was able to connect with Malta on a deeper level by exploring it with calm and patience.  As I said, I visited a friend on Malta, so I stayed with her. With summer being in full spring, I caught myself thinking about iconic summer outfits. Do you know what came to my mind? Costumes/outfits worn by Monica Belluci when she played Malena Scordia in an iconic Italian movie set on Sicily.  The costumes for that movie were designed by an acclaimed Italian costume designer Maurizio Millenotti and he outdone himself! Seeing that Malena is a historical movie, Maurizio choose quite timeless outfits and cuts that will ever go out of style. That fact makes Malena movie the perfect place to look for inspiration! Moreover, I feel that Monica Belluci's personal style is quite similar to Malena's (i.e. to the style of the character she is playing). This lake you see is artificial in origin but that doesn't make it less impressive.  If you ever visit Mostar, I recommend you visit this lake. It is situated in the vicinity of the city. Peaceful and serene atmosphere, birds and other animals to observe, beautiful nature, magnificent mountain views.... ...what is there not to love? THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ BY L.FRANK BAUM (BOOK REVIEW)

Today I'll review a true classic of children's literature: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz , a book by L. Frank Baum. I have read this book fairly recently, so it is still fresh in my mind.  I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by T he Wonderful Wizard of Oz .  I actually enjoyed it a lot, so my book review is also  a book recommendation.   This classic of children literature is such a well rounded tale.  You can read The  Wonderful Wizard of Oz for free on the pages of project Gutenberg here  (that's also the source for the quotes I'm going to use). Have I moved to Stari Grad? My recent posts seem to indicate so, but I'm still based in Jelsa. It is just that I love Stari Grad, so I visit it pretty often. I reach for it very often, especially when I can't figure out what to wear to work. A neutral dress like this one looks great paired with a blazer. It is easy to dress it up and down. THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. I needed to emotionally process the story.   The Island of Missing Trees is   set in London and Cyprus.
