53 WAYS TO WEAR A PAIR OF BROWN HEELED SANDALS

Hello readers and visitors of this little digital place to call my own. As you  know, I like to promote fashion sustainability on my blog. There are many ways to be more sustainable.  One of them is shopping one's closet (something I always enjoyed). That may be why I like to put together these posts where I show you X ways to wear a item. Sometimes the number is 30, sometimes it is higher or lower. Anyhow regardless of how high or low the number of wears is, I find these posts worth sharing. Why I'm mentioning number 30? I do it because it is a sort of reference point for 'green fashion'. The basic idea is that you need to wear an item at least 30 times to make it sustainable.

30 wears challenge is this great movement that tries to promote fashion sustainability and reducing our carbon imprint by challenging us to wear an item 30 times. I think this idea is great because it promotes shopping our closet and making the most out of what we have. I think it is important (not just in fashion, but also in life) to be grateful and appreciate what we have instead of always wanting something else.  So, I had planned to do a 30 wear post for this pair of heeled brown sandals. However, what I discovered is that I have already worn this pair more than that. Browsing my archives, I discovered I have worn this pair of brown sandals fifty-three times (hence the title for this post- 53 ways to wear a pair of brown heeled sandals). Taken that I don't photograph every single outfit I wear, it is possible that the number is even higher than that. I don't remember how much I payed for them, but I remember they weren't expensive (bought in some local shop in Mostar). I'm pretty sure that the price is down to pennies per wear.

Thinking about it some more, it is hardly surprising I've worn this pair so much. The straps are made from leather and hence quite comfortable in the summer. The heel is high but the sandals come with a platform, meaning that the heels is actually shorter than it looks. In other words, these sandals make me taller but they are wonderfully comfortable to walk in. Small wonder I have worn them so much. I don't remember when exactly I bought this pair, I'm thinking maybe 3 or 4 summers ago. I'm sure I'll wear them at least a few more times in the future. Without further ado, here is how I wore them in the past.

#1 WITH A MATCHING BROWN CARAMEL BAG, VINTAGE SKIRT AND WHITE TUNICS
This was a fun outfit that I wouldn't mind repeating once summer returns (or maybe I could adjust it for autumn weather by adding a blazer). This white tunics will get its '30 or more wears' one of these days for sure.

#2
#WITH A RUFFLED SHIRT , WHITE DOTTED PENCIL SKIRT AND A YELLOW BAG- Another outfit that I wouldn't mind wearing again. This bag is plastic but it is very sustainable as I have worn it over 45 times!

  3. It's impressive you have worn these heels so much! they are a nice neutral that go with so much, as these photos show! it's always fun to look back on the ways we've worn things. I think I repeat shoes a lot as I don't have a big shoe collection - I'm not really a shoe person! And now with my knee injury I can't wear all the shoes I have so I'm basically just in sneakers all the time!

Hope you had a great weekend :) We managed to enjoy some time outdoors despite the colder than usual spring weather!

  5. Wow, you have traveled a lot in these shoes and they still look great! Of course, I wouldn't be able to walk in them. I just don't do heels anymore. I fell once down some cement stairs while wearing high heels and well..just don't do it anymore.

    Baci!

  16. Wow, well done on 53 wears, Ivana! I don't aim for a specific number, but since I buy most of my clothes second-hand, I assume they have had a few wears before they join my closet...and when I pass things along, they get even more.

Shopping from my closet is a lot of fun - but I do like to have new things so that my style stays fresh. I've also noticed that my style evolves and changes over time, so something I loved last year just doesn't work for me this year (for example). The general avoidance of shopping retail is my goal. :)

  17. These are the kinds of shoes that every woman needs Ivana. Because as you've shown, they seriously go with everything. I think that's why shoes are one thing I will spend more money on if they are comfortable AND stylish.

    1. same here. Shoes are worth the investment because they affect our posture and how we walk- and thus affect our health.

  18. What a bevy of gorgeous outfits you have treated us to here! Well done on 53 wears!
I've got a pair of brown heeled sandals as well. They are Clarks and the epitome of comfort, but sadly after years of wear (I might have worn the hundreds of times) they are now looking a bit scruffy. I still haven't been able to bring myself to ditch them, though! xxx

  19. With the state of climate change, we could all try to be a little more sustainable with our actions and shopping our own closets and rewearing items is a good way to do that. I haven't really been actively tracking my wears but I'm pretty sure I have a decent number of pieces that have passed the 30 wear mark.
