3 Ways To Wear a Cap : Styling a Maxi Dress With a Brown Blazer

#modaodaradosti

Do you plan our outfits in advance? In this case, I did. I thought about this combo for a while and it was something I really wanted to wear. This vintage maxi dress was a gift and that makes it even more meaningful. Interestingly, the same was the case with this vintage blazer. Anyhow, I wanted to wear this blazer with this maxi dress because I thought these two items would look cute together. I think that the hypothesis proved more and less correct. Now, the next thing to think about were the accessories. When the mini bag trend appeared this Spring, I was pretty excited about it because I love small bags. Take it from someone who has scoliosis, mini bags can be a life saviour. Long story short, I decided to wear this gold mini bag with this outfit. I figured that it won't stand out too much against the brown and the black tones of this look. When it comes to footwear, I decided to opt for sock boots with chunky heels because I have a soft spot for ugly shoes. Then I decided to throw on a striped cap. I figured that it will match the outfit because the cap has a golden detail to match the golden mini bag. In addition, this brown blazer has a red button (that I picked for and sewed on this blazer myself).

However, not to long into my stroll around town, I realized that I don't like this outfit that much. After a moment of reflection, I realized that this cap doesn't look well worn this outfit. The colours clashed a bit too much for my liking. Even if I have put into some thought into coordinating all the colours, something felt wrong. The cap had to go, but where? What to do? I  was already out of the house when I realized this. I couldn't put in my bag, because I was wearing a mini bag. I couldn't very well hold it in my hand all the time. What do to? What to do? First I decided to wrap it around my mini bag. This worked like a charm! I felt like I have just bought a new (and cool) bag. Nevertheless, I still feel like something dark would go better with my outfit. The colours just weren't right.

A bit later, I decided to turn this striped cap upside down. Said, done! You know, turned upside down it kind of looks like a baker boy hat, doesn't it? By turning it upside down I ended up having a completely different all black cap to work with. Funny how creative we can be sometimes, right? Sometimes a simple thing like finding the right accessory for our outfit (even if it means turning the one we have upside down) can make all the difference.

What do you think about this styling of mine? Is it too dark for spring? I think it works well for transitional weather. Truth be told, the weather here feels more like summer right now, but I wanted to share this outfit before I start sharing more summery outfits. I know that spring can be unpredictable so I like to plan comfy spring outfits in advance. When weather gets crazy, we need a good transitional outfit to fall back on! This dress has no sleeves, so it is a great option for spring. I know that most people don't wear tights during the warmer seasons (some don't even during the winter), but I love tights so you'll probably see me wearing them throughout spring. Blazers are another thing I  rely on. I know that I can easily take of my blazer if I get too hot and that makes it a great transitional pieces. I decided to rely on blazer this spring. I always do enjoy styling blazers, but this spring I feel like wearing them all the time. Maybe I'm influenced by the trends? Anyhow, that would be all for today. Thank you so much for reading and for all your amazing feedback on my last post. It truly means a lot to me. Have a fantastic weekend!

  4. Dear Ivana, yes, I think about my outfit combinations :) And what happend to you, is definitely familiar to me :) I maks me smile how creative you solved your issue with the cap - this cap definitely is very versatile! And if it is not too sunny I think this beautiful outfit is not too dark for spring. Sometimes we need darker colours during each season, I know this by my own experience :) Happy weekend!

  6. I actually like the pop of bright color with this elegant dark outfit, but turned inside out, the hat harmonizes in a more traditional way, I think. You are so inventive, my dear! Gorgeous in your vintage dress and blazer! Have a wonderful weekend! <3

  9. Hey Ivana! This cap is definitely the star of this season. I really like caps but sometimes I forget I have them and I don't wear them for months, but I will try to do a commitment and be a hat person ;) I love all the options you propose and the way you style the cap for different ocassions with the right accessories (especially that cute little bag). You look terrific and so glamourous in these pictures!
