Making of a Fashion Illustration: A Girl In a Transparent Blue Dress

Today just a quick post, as I'm only going to share my fashion illustration with you. The painting process was fairly simple. First I sketched this girl with a pencil, then I filled it in with watercolours. I added the finishing touches with markers and then I added another layer of watercolour to blend the watercolour and markers. You'll be able to see a part of the painting process, if you choose to scroll down. In addition, I made a tutorial collage explaining this painting in 4 steps, just in case that you would like to copy this design of mine or make your own fashion illustration in a similar style.  I'm not a professional fashion illustrator so I can't teach you how to make professional fashion illustrations, but as a hobby artist I can (and will) share my painting process with you. Why not? As long as I'm on this subject, I'll also say a few words about my motivation for this illustration. I wasn't motivated by anything in particular, just spring in general. I like polka dots and I do like the transparent trend, so why not join the two? Are you excited about the spring? I'm both excited and apprehensive about it, but I'll share my reasons for  my love-hate relationship with this season some other time.

I drew this girl from my head, I didn't use a reference. It was only after that I had drawn the dress that I thought it would look cute if she was holding pineapples. I drew the pineapples from my head (again without a reference) but when I drew them I remembered that I have some pineapples at home, so I ate a few slices of pineapple. I really shouldn't eat any fresh fruit (only boiled fruit) but sometimes it is hard to resist. Anyhow, I ate a bit of pineapple, took some photographs and today I'm sharing it all with you. How do you like this fashion illustration? I think it turned out alright, perhaps even managing to capture all those 'spring is in the air' positive vibes and all that. Not that I feel like that myself, but it is good to know that I can at least illustrate it. I honestly don't know where all this inspiration is coming from, it is like all these paintings and ideas are materializing from thin air. Sometimes I don't even have the feeling like that I'm painting them. Sometimes I feel like they have a life of their own. Is it bizarre to feel like that? Is it some kind of hobby artist burnout (but then why I keep making more art?) or is this feeling somehow completely unrelated to my art? I don't know.

  5. What a lovely painting of a girl holding pineapples in her two hands. I enjoy your creative expression as it reminds me of how I used to paint and draw when I was younger. In art, I feel, we can reunite with the flow and what you described as the feeling is something I can relate. We get into that creative flow and I feel that in that moment, we become one with Life and art comes out freely. My mom is crazy about pineapples, she ate quite a lot one season and had to reduce her intake because it can cause stomach upset. I hope you will enjoy Spring and share with us more of your art projects :D Have a beautiful day! xoxo

  10. You are very talented, and I love your artistic method.
Your artistic creation is beautiful - my imagination is now fully engaged! :)
I love the colour and design of the lingerie underneath and of the sheer dress. It is beautifully conceived and rendered.
As a lingerie aficionado I'm in heaven seeing sheer couture in designers collections on the runways in fashion shows, being seen worn on the streets, and worn by bloggers in their fashion posts.
I wish I could get up the courage to wear a gorgeous sheer fashion design like the one from your artwork on the streets of Manhattan myself.
I love it even more than the majority of sheer couture I've been seeing recently in the collections of famous designers.

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.
