Interview with Martina / Intervju sa Martinom

Today I'm sharing with you an interview. Preparing this interview with the wonderfully talented Martina, I had hard time selecting which of her works to feature. Everything she creates is so unique and magical, I'm sure you'll be as amazed as I'm. Stop by her blog to see more.

Svratite do njenog bloga kako biste vidjeli više.

1. When did you start to make jewelry?

Some 4-5 years ago and that was when I made my first blog Tincha made in which I have represented my jewelry. However, since I like drawing most of all, I've decided to focus on that and opened a new blog with my illustrations. Besides drawing on paper I have started drawing on hand made frames (made of DAS), which I really liked and so my wall decorations came to be. I'm constantly full of ideas and so I have decided to try to make brooches out of DAS mass and draw my illustrations onto them. I enjoyed that a lot, now I'm working on earrings from the same material.

2. What are your inspirations for fashion illustrations?

When I'm drawing my illustrations, the fashion is not the most important thing for me. I prefer to show a world of my own imagination. All my works are inspired by fairy- tales. I love colours and details so that when I'm making an illustration, I dedicate a great attention to that. I'm a designer by profession, both a graphic and a textile one so I enjoy the process of drawing dresses. In some way it can be said that my illustrations are also fashion illustrations.

3. Do you especially treasure any of your works and which one?

All of my works are special to me because while making them I dedicate great care and much time to every single one of them. From illustrations on paper, I would point out ' I send you love', you can find it on my blog. Especially dear to me is the new collection of brooches called 'springtime dreaming'

4. How much time does it take you to draw a single illustration?

I'm a mother to a ten month old baby girl, so I cannot find time to draw for hours non stop. Nevertheless, with good organization, I ensure at least one hour for my creative work and so the making of an illustration can stretch for a few days, because as I have already said, I don't like to work hastily. I prefer to think thoroughly about everything to the minute details. From an sketch to the final product it takes about 6 hours.

5. What would be your advice for someone who wants to do something creative but isn't sure from where to start?

Well, when I lack inspiration, I take a pen and draw and doodle. In this way some ideas are formed and than I develop them further.

Obviously she buring (I hope that you know what I mean as I'm not sure if in English this word is also used if someone is really excited about something) for her work as she enables it to continue her work although she has her baby.

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism.
